Opera + Youtube issue

Anubis

No Lifer
Ok so this just started liek yesterday

i run opera 12.17 still because the new one sucks,

anyway youtube normally works fine, however sometime yesterday i stopped being able to change the quality of vids, the ONLY option i even see is 360p, i dont even see the other grayed out.

also besides that its been acting slow as heck

works fine in other browsers

did they just change something to screw over people? comp is clean and all that and yes i tried rebooting

humm it seems it was that HTML5 thing, which is really odd because it worked fine with it turned on for like a year

I'm curious, which of these 6 options are green for you in each browser?

https://www.youtube.com/html5

I think Youtube changed their html5 settings recently, so you now need one of the bottom 3 for some options to show up. With "HTMLVideoElement" and "WebM VP8" I only get 360p, but I remember also having the option to watch the videos at different speeds (ie. 0.25x, 0.5x, 2x, etc.) when I used a newer version of Firefox.

Seems like it's some combination of newer OS/drivers/browser's native html5 implementation that makes all the extra viewing options possible.

A possible reason for this change: YouTube was bought by Google, who could be trying to intentionally cripple other (non blink/webkit) browsers Youtube experience so these browsers have to continually "catch up" and "fix themselves" to match Google's changing requirements. Could be just another way for Google to say "herpaderp Chrome is best browser because it's the only one that can run Youtube html5 1080p" now that their fastest browser scandal has backfired.

in opera only HTMLVideoElement and WebM VP8 are green

in pale moon all 3 on top are green, i have it enabled in PM and everything seems normal
