Opera web browser

I was wondering if anyone here regularly uses the Opera web browser? I just downloaded it tonight to check it out, and I think it's pretty slick. It's noticeably faster than Mozilla and IE, and has a pretty clean interface (although I am somewhat partial to Mozilla's "tabbed browsing" concept). I'm currently using it on Win2K..

Astaroth33, I use it now and then and like the tabbed browsing, but I use IE 6.0 on a regular basis because there isn't any learning curve as I've used some version of IE forever. When I upgrade my rig I plan on taking the time to use Opera as my default, but till then IE is for me

Whenever I'm on W2K I use Opera only. I like it . Opera does have kinda of tabbed browsin, just press Shift-CTRL when you click on a link, and it will open that link in a new window in the background. New windows don't show as tabs, but in the Opera "taskbar". Similar function as tabs in Mozilla, slightly different implementation . I personally love that feature .

As the the learning-curve.... There's a learning-curve on web-browsers? It works just like IE does, only thing you need to learn are the new features of Opera (that are not in IE), like the optional mouse-gestures (another feature I love)

For the new features, yes there is a learning curve; when you are used to browsing and the like w/ a certain program, in my case IE, switching to a new browser takse some getting used to Nemesis77

yea i wish ie had mouse gestures. my comps slow or somethings wrong, i can have a bazillion ie windows open 512mb ram, but opera eventually starts stuttering. its my backup browser i run win2k..

Hmm.. just checked the Task Manager to find that the Opera.exe process is using 117MB worth of memory, with a single window open. Doesn't sound normal.. mem leak?

its implementation of tabbed windows is better than crazy browser's, it loads pages up hella fast and i LOVE the mouse gestures. i find myself right-left clicking to go back a page...which throws me off when i'm using non-opera browsers!

The only reason I use IE is because I have 58939538 different usernames and passwords and different forums and IE remembers most of them.

If Opera had that I would use it in a second.

Mozilla has that.. (It's called Password Manager, and I don't see a counterpart in Opera)

I'm using it right now too - Task Manager in Win2k says it's using 12MB with 5 windows open...with peak memory usage of 14MB....

It's by far the fastest browser I have ever used on a slow computer...so if you have a PC at work or school that has little RAM or a crappy CPU, definitely try it out, and that's where you'll notice the biggest difference.

I use it all the time (I even gave them money)

It's nice because it controls it's windows by keeping popups corraled (or not showing them at all). It's by far the fastest graphical browser that I've used. It actually makes browsing on a 26.4k connection pleasant. And it can be self contained, meaning no lost settings during reinstalls of windows.
