I have read a few threads concerning IE vs this and that and FF vs Opera. i know most of you hate IE, but what about when IE is fully updated? Do you still believe IE is crap even if you have it fully updated (SP2, etc)? At least IE has a ton of support and holes get fixed... I'm afraid of the holes that are NOT known about in FF and Opera. Any thoughts on this?

I'm adding a poll

Opera is good yes, but they're after money (M$ is too, and they're really lazy with IE updates), so that leaves my vote to FF. With Opera you're going to have to pay to stay updated and secure (or at least suffer ads), whereas FF is free and usually sees fixes before the current threat is actually wide spread enough to be a real danger.

With Firefox (probably Opera too), updates/patches come almost immediately after the security holes are found. IE will take a few weeks and maybe even months. If you look at the Firefox websites, you'll see that new builds are released almost every night. These "nightly" builds aren't necessarily better because they may introduce new bugs and such, but it shows that Firefox is under constant development and so fixes will come fast.

speed, security, stability...all same same.

Extensions are where it's at. Near infinite custimizability (if that's a word). I have fallen madly in love with CustomizeGoogle <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&id=743"><a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&id=743">https://addons.mozilla.org/extens.........php?application=firefox&id=743</a></a>
(you do not need to know greasemonkey for this, the scripts are packaged into an extension)

:heart: FF. I know some people like opera, but the dealbreaker is that the free version is ad-supported, while FF is free and can block ads via extension. IE doesn't even belong in the poll.

Firefox > #

I prefer Maxthon. It doesn't slow down when you add plugins (much unlike firegerbil). :)

When IE has tabbed browsing and user plugins like Ad-block I wouldn't mind switching back from firefox.

I think if that were the case, I would not have switched.

Maxthon has ad-hunter, which I believe was around before adblock, control over activex and gestures and so on.

I used to love MyIE2, but it seems when they kept adding more and more to it, especially after switching names to Maxthon, it just felt slower :shrug;

Maxthon is a tremendous improvement in many areas over MyIE2 and is definitely faster as well. If you liked myie2 you may love maxthon...I used it...then used firefox through the 1+ releases, but am back on maxthon, mainly for the sake of performance.
