It renders pages fast, but it seems to take forever to just open up the browser compared to safari.

On 3g I don't see any real speed difference.

It takes forever to load up and my biggest complaint is that is shuts down and has to reload from start when my phones goes nuh nite. That does piss me off...

It can't run in the background I guess, so that's why it has to reload from start.

I just don't understand why it takes so long to open up initially.

Maybe Safari is always semi-preloaded into memory?

I like that when I come back into the Opera app the web pages are still there unlike Safari where it has to reload it.

Interesting, because I've been on computers since TRS-80's, and I'm definitely a person who does a shit ton of research on anything I buy before I buy it. I bought an iPhone because of the amount of 3rd party apps for it, next to any other phone it was literally like Windows Vs any other OS when it came to how many apps there were. If you want the best selection of apps there's no other phone period. If you don't care about apps you should probably have MAC desktop, as the OS is better than Windows on most levels, it just doesn't have close to the software available for it. The Apple hate here is astounding, really really astounding.

I'm pretty sold on the Opera Browser. I'll admit it has some issues such as the zoom (which can make some links, such as the page links on these forums, hard to hit), but the speed is just incredible.

Also I like the fact that it seems to load a majority of the page before displaying it so you get a seemingly instantaneous transition (with that cool animation too).

I've read that it does man in the middle SSL trickery but I don't have an iPhone so I didn't care to read up on it more. Sounds pretty hilarious though. It's necessary due to the way they speed things up but still, ridiculous.

Can we please put ALL things Apple in "All Things Apple" forum? Seems like the intent is for ALL Apple stuff to go in there, otherwise we have redundant discussions running in category specific forums, and All Things Apple forums.

When I click on the icon a white screen shows up for ~3 seconds. Every time I launch the app. Then it shows the dialer. Very annoying. The other browsers don't have that. Add the other stuff I wrote about and it's not an alternative to me. Using Atomic Web Browser now and love it!

EDIT: 3GS btw.

Except the iPhone/iPode touch would fall into the "Gadgets Gear and Phones" category too. "All Things Apple" is 100% Apple, but that doesn't mean every thread about an Apple Device should be there.
