I just downloaded opera a few days ago...but i've noticed something about it...

it sucks up memory as fast as it can!

On average it's taking up at least 50 mb of RAM on a few different computers i've tried it on...i usually only have 3 or 4 tabs open....firefox usually at most takes up 40 mb, and that's with foxytunes, forecastfox, and a few other extensions running. Am I doing something wrong? I'm just running a standard install...

You can try limiting the Memory Cache in Preferences->Advanced->History. I used to limit it on my old computer ( 512MB ), but with 20+ tabs always open, it will consume memory.

Cheers.

Oy. Enough with these kinds of threads. Just let Opera use the memory. Can you not even spare 50MB of RAM? What's the point of having so much RAM free if you're not using it?

Thanks...working MUCH better now. It was set to automatic.... with only 256 megs of RAM on the office PC, it just doesn't cut it.

I don't care if it takes up 100 mb on my own computers...but...256 megs on the office pc, with all my work stuff open, i have about ~20 megs free. The computer starts slowing down...alot...
