I would guess some sort of code limitation...
It might be because I have 7.51, but I am sick of paying for a browser, and IE is freakin' god-awful terrible. Firefox was the next logical choice.

Opera seems to be free, now. maybe they changed their business model. you can get version 8.5 or a beta of version 9 I think.

Damn, after I just set up FF the way I like it and ranting about how I had Opera the way I like it. Oh well, I am really liking Adblock and the inline search of FF.

Opera 7.5 had functional limitations (basic interface only) with GMail and did cost money. ($20)

Opera 8.5 and above are entirely free and work with GMail with no problems.

Gmail hasn't been a problem for Opera since version 8 which was released last April.
