Bump!
I`m sure I can`t be the only Opera user here 😉,anyway I`ve installed the update and have had no problems so far 🙂.

So is there any reason for Firefox users to give Opera a whirl? What does it do better?

Like all things it`s really a personal thing on what you prefer, there`s a thread here in the Opera forums from users that have used both link. .

I prefer Opera for speed /features etc.....I`m not saying Firefox is bad , just not as good as Opera IMHO.

🙂

Well I use firefox 0.9.1 currently. Works great. I don't know if it's worth switching to Opera, but i'm downloading it right now to check.

Addendum: OK, one thing I just noticed and really appreciate, is the fact that Opera seems to render certain pages correctly as opposed to Firefox. 🙂 But the interface is kinda bulky compared to Firefox, i'm sure theres a way to slim it down though ?

Apocalypse23,yes you can tweak/remove a lot of stuff like panels etc...guide here,it does take awhile to learn them all, mainly because you can do quite a lot with Opera, have as much or little as you want.

To import bookmarks do this.
Import

You can also import your bookmarks or favorites from other browsers. To do this, go to the File menu and select Import, and then which program you want to import from. Note that it might be a good idea to create a folder in the Opera Bookmarks first, and put all your imported bookmarks into one folder.
.

I also prefer Opera to Firefox. The Wand feature (a button at the top of the browser, located near the stop/refresh/ etc buttons) is great. It allows you to log onto pages with username/pw's instantly. The mouse gestures are great too for opening/closing/maximizing/minimizing tabs.

For anyone wanting to give Opera a try, I recommend getting the "minimalist" skins, they are an improvement over the default.

Cheers,
-Otrant

Thanks guys. I'm still getting used to it. This is pretty cool though. I do miss a few Firefox extensions though (like adblock and stuff) but I like.

(like adblock and stuff) but I like.

Go to "Tools " at top of browser then "preferences" then Windows and you`ll see pop-up settings for unwanted pop ups etc.

Don`t forget to try the many skins available ,just go to "view" at top of browser , then" skin" and finally "get skins",it`s that easy.

Also you might like the no image thing at top of browser under "view" then "images",three options available which are "all images,no images and "cached images"
