Opera 16 Released

It should get better. It has to. How long it will take is the question. I personally think the old Opera being struck down will eventually make the new one more powerful and more popular than anyone can possibly imagine. ...or however that Star Wars quote goes.

Meanwhile, check out Sleipnir. Kind of has that Opera vibe to it. And it can use (apparently all) Chrome extensions. Main cool thing is the tab groups. Press a button, and another bar pops up of tabs. And each tab has its own session of tabs, and you can switch between them easily. So instead of 30 tabs open, you can have 10 in each of three of the top tabs.

It's not quite Opera tab stacking, but it's better tab "grouping" than I've seen so far in other Chrome or Firefox extensions. imo.

I'm still not a fan of chrome because of the whole google connection and not really knowing how much they are tracking within the browser.

thanks for the info about opera 16. however with opera looking more like chrome then if you are windows based then you might as well run chrome imo 😉

The guy in your avatar should have a tinfoil hat on. What does it matter if the NSA can get whatever they want anyway.

IMO nsa is a separate issue because even if they do get whatever data they want, i'd rather have fewer companies have access to it, including google.

I wonder if v17 (which got feature-locked today) will have ANY bookmarks functionality (the current implementation is not even close to that).

After the fiasco with 15, should I even bother to download it?
As many others have said, if I wanted to browse with chrome I would use chrome...

I think it's worth trying out and having but major changes probably won't happen until 17 or 18.

So I've been using Opera 16 the past few days.

With Opera extensions, and with most Chrome extensions working in Opera 16, I don't feel I'm missing too much with Opera 16. It's certainly lacking in features compared to Opera 12, but it's ok. And bookmarks can at least be imported and used on a basic level.

Find text in page? There's an extension for that. Save session? There's an extension for that. etc. I can't get the speed dial start page to change from the Opera one, though.

Firefox can do more stuff than 16 and Chrome, and I use Firefox for certain particular things, but if you don't need it for those particular things, then that doesn't matter much.

Maxthon 4 has a lot built-in too. Nice little browser. I mainly wish it was a little more pleasing to the eye.

What, you have to download something in order to get such basic functionality as saving a session? Seriously?
