Opera 11 Beta

i'll probably go back to opera when i'm sure it's not so flakey anymore. they drove me away for the first time in several years.

Interesting I am hearing a lot of great stuff about Opera 11 and even like it myself! Didn't realize how awesome it is to have a email client inside your browser with it being really good to boot! Now I see why people asked Mozilla to put Thunderbird inside Firefox. That would of been a bad idea. Opera is the only company that knows how to do it well! Amazed at how small they can keep this browser but still giving you all these plugins!

Tab Stacking rocks! As well as on demand plugins! Still I can't help but not get taken away from Firefox quite yet but if there is any alternative browser I would look at it would always be Opera as my #1 chose! The extension are coming around quite nicely too! Though like I said I can't quite take myself from Firefox and this is mainly the reason. Otherwise I would switch to Opera today!

One thing I do realize that is undeniable and will always be the case for Opera, no other browser for that matter, will be as customize as Firefox is. It is just not possible.

waiting for lastpass........ until then, not interested. i keep opera installed for the turbo function when i'm using my cell phone tethered, but otherwise i dont use it.

That is surprising I thought LastPass support any browser guess that is only the booklet. Can't you use that ?

That and Roboform been supporting Opera for a while now. I am mad at them though.

I'm a fan of Opera. Not enough to run the betas, but I keep the stable version updated. Firefox is still my primary browser, but Opera comes in second. The only thing I use Chrome for is incognito mode which I have it permanently set to, and for testing. IE is only used for MS sites. It seems to work better than other browsers, and I don't want to install the ActiveX plugin just for MS. That's one less security risk I have to worry about.

Yeah Opera comes in second for me as well. Very close to first but not quite enough and may never be sadly. Firefox just has me stuck to it. Funny you mention Chrome's incognito mode. I love the Opera private/incognito tab feature! Mainly because it can all be done in a new tab instead of having to open a whole new window like Firefox. Not sure how Chrome does it.

I think Chrome sets the whole browser as incognito. It's been awhile since I've run it manually. I have it set to start in incognito through a switch. It's good for BS stuff where I don't want cookies set or something. I generally use it for "AT Effect" threads in OT where someone wants you to vote for their particular contest :^D

Oh ok. I didn't know that. Opera seems to be always the one creating the new features and everyone else follows. Look at tabs! I remember a long while ago when Internet Explorer never had them. Amazing how they turned around can't remember what version first had them but now every browser must have tabs or it fails. I don't know of any that don't.

Haha. Good use of it.

Opera actually allows you to open either single tabs or the whole browser as incognito/private.

Theres been a snapshot with extensions usable up for a while actually. I like it. It finally allows integration in a simpler fashion.

For instance LastPass (as was mentioned earlier) will most likely be making an extension but Roboform showed it was possible in the earlier iterations as well just not in a simple "app store" style setup.

I think the extensions are cool but I can't honestly think of much that Opera doesn't already have. Maybe they can get XUL support through an extension to get your scripts working pcslookout 😀

Grabbing it right now! 😛
Opera has been my primary browser for years. Firefox is my backup... Exploder for MS sites only.

I have always the latest opera beta as a separate installation running side to side with the latest stable version.

Hopefully! Trying to make do without them but not easy. There one script that works fine but that is only because I changed to a different one but it is better and the greasemonkey author makes the same script for most browsers. Firefox, Opera, and Chrome. He keeps them up to date too.

I am surprised LastPass beat Roboform to the punch officially.

Though like zokudu said roboform had a working alpha version working in Opera for a while now. Yes it actually works but it was not as easy to install as normal browser plugins. You had to do it manually. It as alpha after all. Remember when Roboform use to say it was impossible to get a toolbar in Opera. Haha how wrong they are. I am still mad at them though. They are going downhill fast.

Hopefully with such a main company offering a extension helps acceleration the development of even more extensions for Opera now! Basically like saying well if they can do it why can't I ?

For me it is Firefox first (I like the addons and have them pretty well set as I need), then Opera (opens nice and fast) but even though it has AdBlock, for me it is hard to use and does not work as well as in Firefox. Some pages do not render properly in Opera. Then IE8 which work ok, except for ad blocking. I even tried Ad Block Pro for IE (30 day trial) and I could not get it set up properly to ad block what I wanted to.

Yeah Firefox for me will always be first at the moment too. Then a very close second is Opera of course! Most likely IE third as will but a far away third. Should be a closer third once IE 9 comes out lol.

I won't have the chance to try IE9 at home as it will not run on XP. But I am interested in seeing how Firefox and Opera handle HTML5, which may at some point, eliminate the need for Adobe Flash and Sun Java. Properly done, web pages should render properly in any browser on that becomes widespread.

Oh well IE9 still doesn't have a spell checker anyway so no lost. There addon system still sucks too.

Opera is always the one, who makes all the new features and others follow. Congratulations again to them for their success.
