opera 10 beta

although in beta, this browser kicks ass. opera was already my favorite, but this adds some features that should have been there (spellcheck) and improves on others (super duper speed dial, .torrent defaults to ask for dl location). this version has a pleasing look, imo, but what is most noticeable is the improvement in text on my 1920x1080 screen. websites also seem to fit better on the screen.

would it be wise to use this beta for online transactions, or should i use the last stable release for that?

Downloaded it but haven't used it much. Mainly due to using Firefox and IE as the alternative. No purpose to use a 3rd browser, yet. Seems pointless unless I drop Firefox.

I love Opera's feature when you scroll on webpages, its feels Mac-ish. Its also pretty quick when dealing with Java websites.

Is there any addon to change the Opera address bar to something like Firefox's or the new IE bar?

I'm still pretty new to Opera and the address bar is ticking me off 😛.

Anyone have Opera tell you that you're on a fast network? Or at least not tell you that your network is slow? What's it checking? It happened the first time when I went to an internal web server, which is on the same gigabit switch as my desktop, literally two rooms away.... if that's slow, what in the world is fast?!

i turned that off. web pages were lagging badly, i turned off "turbo" and prest-o change-o all better.

I've been using opera for the past two years and love it. My only gripe is when it comes to playing videos online, such as Netflix, Southpark Studios, or the networks. Usually gotta flip over to IE for those.

for me, it's often but not usual. firefox has that excellent video downloader pluging, too.
