Opensource Word Pronouncer?

I want to build a site that has 1 page per term. A term, a definition, and an audio link. When you play the audio, the site actually synthesizes a voice to pronounce the word.

Anybody come across that before? Can you point me in the right direction?

Nope, it's a no go. I got a quote and the pricing is too rich for my blood for now. Actually I wouldn't say the cost was bad, just that I don't plan on making much profit from this site. Any other ideas?

I've played with something on my FC4 box called KSayIt, which worked ok. Its a front end for KTTS ( http://accessibility.kde.org/developer/kttsd/index.php )
But if your goal is a pronounciation aid, it may not help much - it's definitely a monotone, computer generated kind of thing.

And actually, KTTS is a front end for the actual speech synthesis engine - the one I have installed is Festival - http://www.cstr.ed.ac.uk/projects/festival/
