Opening my trunk

So I got a used car, but the keys that came with it don't work with the trunk. They slide in all the way, but the tumbler won't turn, it won't budge, as if there's one pin in there that isn't falling back. I need the use of my friggin' trunk though, any ideas on how to get it open with minimal damage?

Oh yeah, and there's no mechanism to open it with a lever on the inside.

I'm hoping there's no dead body inside.

Usually, if you look on top of the back dash, there's a place for popping the rear back seats, after the rear back seats are down, craw in the trunk with a flash light and pop the trunk

Tried that already, seats are stuck solid onto the back dash.

*goes to price locksmiths*

It's just, if I went to a locksmith, I'd feel like somebody who comes to me everyday with a computer with a problem they could easily fix themselves if they knew how but they pay $50 for a simple procedure. So if there is a simple technique used by locksmiths I don't want to pay $50 if I could do it myself.

Assuming you didn't get a raw deal and bought a car that had been rebuilt after an accident with new door locks, your trunk lock is likely just a bit sticky from lack of use or crap built up over the years.

This happened on my old car (which thankfully had inside release). The solution is to spray some WD40 or some oil into the tumbler, coat the key lightly in oil, and keep working at the mechanism until it goes.

If that dosen't work, you're likely looking at a locksmith and a replement latch for your trunk.

Yeah, the passenger-side tumbler was like that, I had to get vice grips to get the key to turn. But this trunk lock is STUCK, it's not sticky, I can apply enough force just to the point of the key breaking and it won't budge.

Sounds like you got a Valet Key. Can you lock/unlock your glove box?

Hmm, didn't think about that... *goes to try glove box*

Edit: Keys work with glove box.
