Not sure if i understand your question. However the card runs both. If it is like the generation before it, on games where you are given a choice of which to install (ie. Counterstrike/Halflife) i would go with DirectX just by ati's previous results with their older cards. Hope that answers your question.

Stick with Glide. Love the 16-bit goodness! 22-bit internal rendering, dammit ;) .

Actually, go with D3D whenever possible.

Go with the API that the engine was programmed on.

ex.

Doom III - OpenGL

Half-life 2 - Direct3D

Note: Direct3D is a subset of DirectX that controls 3D graphics.

You really don't have a choice. ATi and nV support both APIs, and will render via whatever a game uses. Only a select few games can use both, and even then they tend to optimize for one and keep the other as a sort of test renderer.

It's not something you have to worry about. You do your thang, and your games and video card will do their thangs. :)

In most cases you won't have a choice. In cases where you do have a choice it depends entirely on the game.

Definately, software rendering sucks.

<j/k> ;)

Use the API that gives you the best gaming experience, it varies with the Title.

Agreed.
