Well, my trusty laptop finally died, and I am stuck with this PoS computer until DX10 laptop cards arrive. Rig is as follows:
PIII 800Mhz OC'd to ~900Mhz (Temps too high at 1Ghz, though stable)
MAtrox Millenium Dualhead G450 <- source of all my troubles
256 MB RAM @ ~115 Mhz, timings 1-1-1-10
80 GB 7200 RPM HDD
anyway, I was having issues gaming in OpenGL in RTCW: ET, but updating the drivers fixed that. However, I am still having issues with other openGL games, namely Frets on Fire (Guitar Hero Clone). The game will cause my computer to go full screen, but remain black.
I can't tell what the problem is- drivers are updated all the way, FoF is patched up to the latest release, and openGL works in other scenarios. The only hint I have at the moment is that Frets on Fire loads when Hardware Graphics Acceleration is turned down to the second notch in advanced graphics options, but the frame rates are far too low to be playable.
I really can't wait for my new computer. This one has been nothing but trouble. However, any help would be greatly appreciated.
