openfirmware and forth

is there a reason that openfirmware has a forth interface? how about a bash interface instead? i just obtained a beige powermac g3 and find it nifty playing with openfirmware. anyone have links to interesting programs? i think i heard of someone writing an apple ii emulator in forth running in openfirmware but i can't find it.

I played with Forth just a little arround 1977 as it was available as a plug in cartridge for Atari computers. I recall it was very popular with astronomers so you might want to try an astronomy site.

Forth requires a very tiny interpreter. We used Forth on satellite control systems in the late 1970s, because an interpreter + forth code was denser than assembly language.

Forth lives today mostly at "postscript", which is froth plus printer specific functions.
