Open up a Bank One account, get a free IPOD Shuffle

My wife works as a customer service rep at a Bank One branch and told me about this deal that will let you get a free 512mb IPOD Shuffle.

Of course, there are catches:

$500 initial deposit
Direct Deposit is required (it doesn't matter the amount - $1 is fine, so check with your employer if they can split your deposit)
Complete two on-line billpay transactions.

That's it!

Now, I know this is happening at least where I am (in Houston), so check with your local branch to see if they're participating.

Chase Bank might also be involved, since Chase and Bank One are now one and the same.

any idea if they're doing this online?? i can set up a direct deposit from my current account at BoA to any bank account if i have the acct number. also, do you have a link to the terms?

BankOne already changed over to Chase here in Milwaukee. I can't find any info nor did I see anything on the outside of the branch when I drove by this morning.

So you open the account with $500 and then you need a direct deposit to qualify for Ipod?

Okay, here's the official word from her. I'll keep on asking more questions to her if you need them answered. The account needs to be opened at a B&M bank, NOT online:

To qualify, customers must open any new Bank One or Chase checking account with at least $500 in new money, plus sign up for direct deposit and Online Bill Payment by June 30, 2005, then just pay two different (unique) bills by August 30, 2005. Let customers know it'll take eight to ten weeks after they mail in their coupon AND pay two different bills online to get their free iPod shuffle in the mail. Customers who qualify for the free iPod shuffle will also be automatically entered into a sweepstakes to win a Universal Studios Orlando or Universal Studios Hollywood vacation (four winners get to choose which locale they want).

The coupon will be supplied at account opening and must be postmarked by July 31, 2005.

I went in, they had bunch of flyers out, and were really really nice. They also told me you dont have to keep a balance to get the deal...just open w/$500+ and pay two bills w/billpay and setup direct deposit. So you could pay your two bills the first month, drain it down to $.01 (still no fee w/direct dep) and get the deal. As long as you're not a negative balance 🙂
