Open .TXT Newsgroup files?

You know how sometimes you download .TXT files.... (15mb+) Well, how do you extract them?

do you mean encoded files? you just selected all the messages belonging ot that file and choose decode in the usenet client

or is the .txt some "clever" scheme to hide from the pirate police?

I click on the file and click decode in a certain folder. All done!

Try renaming the file with a .zip or .rar extention.

Well, I downloaded the files, and they should be .RAR, but they are .RAR.TXT and renaming them doesn't work.

I don't think RAR files are just one textfile. They have to spanned into a cluster of posts. Try downloading the main cluster.

Ever think that it's a virus posing as a TXT file that's supposed to be a RAR file?

People might flame me or something, but here is the file name "tcf-brb.part56.rar (by INliner inliner@dont.be.a.lamer.hater.us).txt"
And there are like 50 of them.... they do this a lot, I just don't know how to extract them.

What are you using to download them? Try using Forte Inc's Agent.. or Pan for linux.
