Open the southern border under two conditions?

Let's forget about building a wall.

If someone wants to enter the United States from the southern border:

Step 1: Send them to California or Washington state where they can stay forever. The only strings attached, if any illegal immigrant wants to leave california or Washington state, then they have to go through the paperwork. Allow safe passage through Oregon, but no living in Oregon.

Step 2: California and Washington states have to pay 100% of the bill for the illegal immigrants - food, housing, healthcare... everything. Not a single penny comes from the federal government to assist illegals.

An illegal enters the US through Texas, they are loaded in a van and shipped straight to California. No keeping them in a holding center for weeks, no jail, no breaking up families, no federal immigration officers in California or Washington except to drop people off.

Since cities in both of those states want to become sanctuary cities, let them. Enable their behavior by sending tens of thousands of illegals and let the open borders people sort it out.

Just pass a law prohibiting illegal aliens from ever getting to vote and Dems will lose interest in allowing them to hang around. Then they can hang around undercutting low end wages forever for all I care, easier to deport than fire a unionized American worker.
 
Or, you know we can always force Mexico into cession. With an offer they can't refuse. If the southern border is still a problem, repeat with ____ country.

The benefit of finite space is that there is an end.

Texas and the southern states need the illegals to do the shitty work the lazy folks down there won't do. There are a lot of lazy people in Texas, they all think they should have oil or gas jobs for 100k a year with no education, and they refuse to do manual labor. I've noticed the electrical and mechanical contractors do average work for high pay and brag about what a great job they do. We have trouble finding good help down there, and many employers wish that more hard working Yankees would move down for jobs. This is all anecdotal, but seems to be fairly common.

That's ridiculous. Texas is growing, so good help isn't easy to get. That's the same here in Denver.
 
Dunno why TH is so twitchy about illegals invading his corner of the world. I mean, there aren't any jobs so why would they go there?

Funny we just had public hearings on current security threats to the US. Our intel agencies testified and not one of them brought up the southern border.

How about we monitor the border with cameras and microphones to zero in on crossers and use a regular tall fence at the actual border rather than a wall miles away from it?

Those who do not want a wall do not necessarily want " wide open borders".

We just want the money to be spent the most cost effectively and usefully. Also, whatever trump wants, is for his own personal benefit, so, if he wants something, i'm sure it is a bad idea for the country and for the world.

We already use electronics to monitor the border in remote locations.

It seems to me that you view undocumented immigrants as economic burdens to the US and as arriving in the US principally via the southern border.
