Open Office

If I were to create a powerpoint type presentation using Open Office's Impress software could I then put that on a disc (cd, dvd whichever) and view it on a laptop that only has microsoft office 2003?

If not, is there some kind of conversion software out there for this type of thing?

Maybe you should try magic point, which I think outputs html files.

Long story, but I can't try it and find out or I would.

And what's magic point (will google it in a sec) and why is it a good thing if it outputs html files?

it very well may work but i would be careful

many times i would write up a lab with open office and would find out that word would not open it.

Magic Point is an X11 based presentation tool. It is designed to make
simple presentations easy while to make complicated presentations possible. Its presentation file (whose suffix is typically .mgp) is just text so that you can create presentation files quickly with your favorite editor (e.g. Emacs, vi).

Can you think of a fairly recent ststem (last 10 years) that can't read/display html files? 😛

So basically what you're saying is that if I use Magic Point I should be able to open it in Microsoft Office 2003 no problems because it saves files as html?

No. That's not what I said. I thought you were preparing a presentation and suggested magic point instead of crap like OOo or Microsoft Office. But whatever, forget MP.

If you use OOo and want to use it in MO, test it before it's necessary.

No. That's not what I said. I thought you were preparing a presentation and suggested magic point instead of crap like OOo or Microsoft Office. But whatever, forget MP.

If you use OOo and want to use it in MO, test it before it's necessary.
