Here's a thought. Since the goal is to make the forum friendlier I think we need to do away with the ignore feature. There is now no need for willful ignorance. What do people think th this?

Asking people to take personal responsibility for their actions? What is the internet coming to. No more asking the system to protect them from the boogie man.

I agree. Those who post as regular users but have mod powers already are ignore proof, so they can do whatever they want knowing no one can ignore them. Might as well give that same power to everyone else who is posting as a regular user...which is everyone other than mods.

I personally have always viewed the ignore feature as the final refuge of a weak mind...I will not miss it if it is removed.

I don't like it. Not because I don't think I can control myself, but because some people are just fucking idiots. If someone gets offended when someone else calls them a name, well the internet just isn't for them. Discussion isn't for them. And discussion of politics is most definitely not for them.

It serves no purpose. Is the point to discuss issues or just to flame each other and try to hurt people's feelings? I agree, you gotta have thick skin on the internet, but personally I would like to see a few of the worst offenders throttled so that we can have productive discussion instead of pages and pages of people with hurt feelings going back and forth. Those who just come on here to try to make others miserable should be weeded out and dealt with.

I'm trying to think of a single poster that is constantly cussing people out. :hmm:

However, posters that drive multiple other people to cuss them out? Yeah, I can think of a few of those.

Whoever this person you are referencing is, he must be a VERY powerful and mighty person to be able to force multiple people to do things they do not want to do...especially considering this person is most likely physically quite distant from the people he is controlling.

I would like to meet this demi-god.

:)

It doesn't take power to acheive those things, but I am not surprised you think it does. I'm also not surprised you would idolize such a person.

I am saying I am not lying. Since this is true, he obviously is either lying about my lying (which I doubt) or he is saying he knows more about me than I do.

Since we have never met, it is impossible for him to know more about me than I do, but he seems to think he does anyway.

Of course it's true- in this post of yours I've quoted here - that you're SAYING that you're not lying. What does THAT have to do with anything?

If I write, "I am a Martian," and then I write, "I'm saying that I'm a Martian," the second statement is clearly true but the first statement is clearly a lie.

You're a pathological liar, and your making the true statement "I'm saying that I'm not a pathological liar" doesn't contradict the truth of your pathology.

I've bolded this SECOND part of your post because it so clearly demonstrates the extremes your pathology goes to.

You've twisted my statement, "You're a pathological liar" and pretended that what I said was "Everything you say is a lie." Thus, your conclusion is totally invalid.

Do you have any more nonsense to offer us?

You had to turn off the ignore feature so you could read people's personal attacks against you?

People were quoting some of the attacks so I had to turn it off to see the full extent of the lies, harassment and personal attacking.

I sorta like the Ignore feature in some instances though. There is a certain poster here who almost always posts one or two word idiotic replies, contributing absolutely nothing to the thread at hand. True it is easy to just skip over their post, but, it's so much easier to just not even see it. I say keep Ignore, it does serve (at least some) purpose.

Anyone that can force others to do something they do not want to do without having any actual physical coercive ability over that person is pretty mighty. The person's typed words alone are able to dominate the will of the person who is then forced to type things they do not want to type.

It really is an amazing thing.

So now we see you - yet again - making the same old non-argument you always make when confronted with substantive posts that prove your transgressions: you label them "silly" and "nonsense," yet provide absolutely NOTHING to back up your labels.

I call you a liar after PROVING that you continually lie. I call your posts nonsense after PROVING that your posts are nonsensical.

If my posts are nonsense, then do the heavy lifting and PROVE it.

Yes, I have no doubt it gets you excited, but you assume they are doing something they do not want to do. Typing nasty words on the internet really isn't a big deal to most people.

So you have to be forced to do what you already want to do? Odd...but I suppose everyone has their fetish.

Forced? I never used the word forced. But you know this.

posters that drive multiple other people to cuss them out

I doubt you are talking about being picked up in an automobile. What does "drive multiple other people to cuss them out" mean? To me, it means "make you do something you do not want to do". From what I gather so far, to you it means "make you do something you want to do".

Be precise, what does that phrase mean to you?

If you do not want an answer, don't ask a question. Pretty simple.

The correct statement is: Anyone wanting a meaningful answer from you shouldn't bother wasting their time asking serious questions. And, yes, you're pretty simple.
