Try using a non-p1r8 version of Windows for starters. The feature that you mention isn't a feature of legit MS versions of Windows.

Edit: I take that back, when you hold CTRL+SHIFT, it does appear. I wonder why MS hid that command behind a keystroke-combo.

When you say that it's not working, does the menu option not show up, or is it there but it does not open the Command Prompt window at all, or does it open the Command Prompt window, but not in the selected folder location?

Go to /Windows/System32 and look for CMD.EXE. Pin it to the START MENU. You can always access it there, but, if you want to create a keyboard shortcut, right click on the Start Menu icon and look for the shortcut box. It normally says NONE. Click on it and type in your desired command - CTRL+ALT+P works for me. Then you can key it up anywhere.

Not all windows has the command line function as shown in these pictures.

Sometimes you need to edit the registry to make it show up or install other tools.

how inachu show me how please

I did try holding down shift on my pc(windows 7) I am typing this from and holding down shift gave me better options and not just command here. I like the -open in new process.

To reiterate it just may not work on all windows.

What version of Windows is this for? As has been stated, this does not work in all versions of Windows. If this is for one of your pirated versions of XP, you may be out of luck, as some of those try so hard to be "slim" they remove features that a user like yourself might actually want.

Another suggestion: Provide the link to the wikihow you got the picture in the OP from, for those who may want to know what you are referring to.

Yes. That context menu option, "Open command window here", was probably added by some third party "tweak/pimp my OS" software. I don't recall any stock/unaltered windows version with such a feature.

Open command window here does exist in Windows, since 7 (possibly Vista). I can confirm it appears when I Shift+Right click. I'm on Windows 7 right now, there's no way my company uses some random 1337h4x0r garbage off the bay. Heck, we went through a full Microsoft licensing audit two years ago, you'd think they would have something to say about that if it was the case. No powertoy/gadgety stuff either. I also have this option on my home computer, running 8.1.

Try Shift+Right clicking a folder, instead of empty space. That's the only way I get the option in Win 8.1.

You are right. It's been hiding behind that shift+mouse click. Sorry about that. I guess I got used to start << run << cmd and then cd.. cd cd.. too much.
