I heard that best buy liquidates its stuff through www.techliquidators.com when you go to the web site you can even see a picute of best buys old mega TV screen (actually 9 sets placed in a brady bunch style cube), and their car which they use to display car-audio.

I remember when their 9 TV screens were being sold (don't remember the final price).

Anyone have news whether this is nationwide. In NY?

I remember reading an interview with Richard Schulze in Business Week a few weeks ago where he mentioned that they had struck a deal with a national liquidator to sell returned and repaired merchandise from their B&M and .com business. If I recall correctly, I think that the deal was through a subsidary of AIG, the company that administers their performance service plans.

Any confirmation that this will occur at most other stores today.

The reason I ask is that I will have to sneak out of church to be there when the door opens.

I risk burning in hell and the wrath of my wife!

So it better be worth the trip!

We'll give it a shot, what have I got to lose?

Thanks for the heads up!

Hmm... I wonder which is worse?

I wouldn't have a problem buying any open box computer hardware item (except maybe a monitor). Odds are, the person who bought it couldn't figure out how to install it properly.

I know a lot of people like that - just enough knowledge to be dangerous, and if the install hits some problems, like maybe they need to configure the jumpers for Master/Slave roles, they give up and say "it doesn't work!".

I am also curious:
How do you know this?

gee how long is church where you go? is it all day?

Best buy in my area marks things 10% off I'd be suprised if anything was 60%

I'll check it out , before or after church of course! ;)

Nothing in Rockville, MD area either. Well, they had $10 TV carts (down from $70), which is a good clearance if they can actually be assembled. But nothing else. All open box stuff that I saw was the same as on Saturday.

Nothing at the Chapel Hill/Durham Store...

BTW, what time does BB usually open on Sundays?
The website says 11 but there were tons of people there
when I hit it at 11...

Well, I'm writing from hell....

I chose that over my wife's wrath!

It was a no go here at the Georgia Mall.

Now to find a Hot Deal on a Cold A/C......

Thanks anyway!

NOTHING! There was only one item that was open boxed that had a discount greater than 10%. If you want a 50 lb "jam box" with missing speakers then try the South Austin Best Buy -- retail $320 - discount $189.

I hope other stores have better buys ...

Thanks for the post though

A broken Epson printer for $50.00 (Retail $79.00) and a $69.00 scanner for $50.00, that's it for Denver Best Buy.

This is crazy. I scored an open box 60GB 7200 WD for 70 and a GBA for 50 both open box. This is hot.

this is obviously another BB promotion crap that when you get their, there's nothing really you want. maybe 1 in a million chances that there's an open harddrive for half the prices and someone is just bragging and most of us fell for this and make a trip to BB. just freakin waste of somebody's time. i hate this. :(

No lowered prices on open-box in Santa Rosa, CA. However, the first salesperson I came across nudged me toward the open-box dvd players and said they were the best deals and that they are trying to get rid of them. Good luck.

Went to Best Buy in New York. Only deals were on TVs with no box. Guy tried selling me one plus an extended warranty saying "Go home, break the tube with a hammer and come back. We'll give you a brand new TV. You'll get a brand new TV and walk away paying for only the clearance". I firmly said "Thats OK, and walked away". I guess it could work though, but I don't the patience to try it.
