Automated payments excludes Key Bill Pay and debit card automated payments. Offer available to individuals without an existing checking account at KeyBank as of July 20, 2007. Employees of KeyBank, its affiliates and subsidiaries are not eligible for this offer. Limit one free iPod nano per qualifying account. Limit one free iPod nano per individual. Offer valid while supplies last. The value of the iPod nano will be reported on Form 1099-INT. If you close your account within 180 days of account opening, you will be charged a $25 account early closure fee. Accounts overdrawn or closed as of October 26, 2007 are not eligible for this offer.

this will be my 3rd time opening an account with them and the other 2 nanos I got within 2 months.

I live in Utah ...I have no idea if paypal works.. I just had my work direct deposit $100 to the account twice, then stopped it .. cashed it out .... the good thing i theres no minimum balance so I kept it at $0 then cancelled it after the 180 days were up.

Am I missing something, or could you deposit $200, make two $100 online credit card payments & then be all set?

I'm not sure what counts as an automated payment, though. Hmm.

Edit: They require employment information for the last two years..? WTH?

Is it bad to open so many accounts? I already have 2 checking accounts. What would happen if you open an account and never use it, is there really any risk?

Anyone know if Key will do a hard pull on our credit report for opening this account? If so, just be aware that it will lower your credit score temporarily by 5 or so points for up to 6 months. In my opinion, that is worth the benefit of getting a free $150 iPod, although not everyone will agree.

According to Andy L. at mymoneyblog.com, automatic payments are made by a company, such as bill payment. The transfer has to be set up through the account number, not the debit card number. The way I read it, I doubt paypal transfers or credit card payments will count. I signed up, there's nothing to loose.
