Use code "FATWALLET" for 10% off.

I bought ten of them. 🙂 (Craigslist, here I come.)

Amazon reviews: link
"I have been able to access this without any problems from my Windows computer, my Linux computer and from my Xbox. I've streamed videos and audio files without a hiccup to all 3 of them. "

Manual: link (PDF) (sorry, this
should be the right link)

Maybe mine will work?
http://www.geeks.com/details.a...tid=STI-NAS-NHD-IDE-NP

If that doesn't consider replacing the space with a period.
http://www.geeks com/details.asp?invtid=STI-NAS-NHD-IDE-NP

10/100 MHz
IDE
3.5" drives
1-RJ45
2-USB (for printers? external HD?)

Any idea if you can install alternate firmware on it?

Edit: There are extensive mentions of firmware versions 1.07 and 1.1 which support a different feature set (1.07 external RAID, 1.1 iShare support). I was wondering if something like FreeNAS would run on such a device.

I'd like to know also. Fat32 really kills this for me.

IIRC the FAT32 limitation is for external hard drives according to the manual. It would also be good to know if these spin down the drive when not in use, as well as the ability to BitTorrent client.

I may pick one or two up; I previously got the netgear SC101, but it is a SAN and not a NAS. I'd prefer to not have any software installed on each PC that has to interface with the drive.

Also, I wonder if these are long enough to fit a and IDE-to-SATA adapter between the drive and the interface board

EDIT: about 70 left as of now.

Here's a link to the 1.09 firmware. Supposedly, the 1.10 firmware is available on the OpenMSS forums, you have to send someone a PM to obtain the password for the RAR file.

Here's a link to the 1.07 firmware, that has been hacked to add Telnet support.

Here is the original 1.07 firmware.

I bought a 500 gb model (with drive) a couple of years ago, and they do spin down when not in use. Spin up time is maybe 2 or 3 seconds, not long. Don't know about BT, but I've been pretty satisfied with it. Drive mapping and remote access are both easy, if not fully featured.
