*OOS* S-939, Tyan Tomcat K8-E SLI, retail box, $44.99

Wish they would have been selling this around Christmas time 07 would have loved to have had this. 🙁 Good deal for someone with a high ocing cpu that needs a new mobo.

How does this match up to an Asus A8N32-sli dlx for general performance, o/c, and gaming? Looking to build a budget system based of a NForce4 Ultra (or better) chipset.

From what I read about the Tyan board, its SLI works at x8. I can't remember if the Asus A8N32-SLI runs SLI at x8 or x16. On this board, I would think that the 2200 chipset doesn't work much differently from the NForce 4's. As a negative, it looks like it only has two USB ports on the board panel and two on the expansion plate. Hopefully someone who has tried the board will comment on the performance.

Tempting to buy as a spare in case my current (Different S939) board dies but I think I'll just upgrade to something newer at that time.

Thanks for this deal. I purchased two. The review is quite amazing. I have moved to socket AM, but I have 2 socket 939 chips (4000+ and 4400+ dual core) that is sitting around. I can always upgrade my nephews and niece's computer. My experience is that after a while, you can't find the mobos for the chips you have. Thanks again.

I must add that this statement is very true lol.

Indeed. I have 2 P4's, 2 AMD K6 II's, Orginal Pentium, and original Athlon 2000+. Can't get motherboards for any of them.

I just received my two boards and I wish I had ordered more. I have never seen a $45 board that is soooooo high in quality. All the major caps are all solid caps! I have owned quite a few boards, and this has to be the best board that I have ever owned. the review indicates that this is originally a $250~$300 board. I believe it! Thanks for this post.

Tyan makes nice stuff. These boards were basically quadruple the price of normal enthusiast boards.

I noticed that there are a number of 939 boards on the computergeeks site. Peeps should snatch them up while they can.

Well, if it's any consolation, this "deal" has now cost me over a hundred bucks since I needed to order a new PSU. OTOH, I'm not really complaining since this looks like a really nice board. My PSU arrives tomorrow, so I should hopefully have it up by tomorrow evening.

They're usually pretty good with their warranties too. I've only dealt with them on server side. I run a K8wE dual socket 940 with the Nforce 2200 chipset. It's been rock stable for over a year now at 24/7.

You might want to check their rackmount deals as well.

to freshspace since you dont receive pms:

would you mind selling one of them to me? i have a highend x2 and opteron that would go great on one of these boards? if you were going to use them to just upgrade a couple of pcs for kids i have some matx 2 939 boards (asus a8v-mx). i would be willing to give you both the a8v-mx boards for one of the tyans, as i have been looking for one to go with the opteron, which most of the tyans were made for. i would really really appreciate it if you would be willing to do the trade.

thnax and please give it some thought.

Hi Rifter7,

Unfortunately, I will not be able to make any deal. I have 4400+ and 4000+ ready with two TT Blue Orb 2 waiting to be installed. Sorry about that!

There's probably a better place to ask this, but do any of you know how to disable the power to the PS/2 ports when the machine is off? I'm not too fond of having my numlock light on and my mouse glowing red when the computer's off...

Dual channel is working fine on mine. In fact, everything on it is working great (I don't intend to use it for SLI, so the 8x thing won't be a problem). I just want it to kill the PS/2 power when it's off.
