[OOS online] Antec Kuhler 620 $40 shipped + $10 MIR Frys.com

Thanks guys! I've spent saved a ton of money after finding AT Hot Deals. In unrelated news I now have a small collection of spare parts "just in case."

Shouldn't the title be "$40 shipped with a $10 MIR"
or
"$40 shipped - $10 MIR"
or
"$40 shipped", "$30 AR"

The way the title is now confuses me, then that is what MIR are supposed to do confuse the emotional part of the brain and hope the rational part of the brain doesn't notice. Then you forget to mail the MIR or you do it incorrectly.

out of stock and not even available for store pickup. did they have like 5 of these total or something

It is available for that price in store, they are not allowing the store pickup option for then people would "reserve it" and not pick it up for days (or not at all) and thus the customers who drove down to the store can't purchase it even though it is in stock but "reserved"

You can always call the store, wait way too long on the phone for you to be transferred to the right department and ask for the current inventory. If they have in stock they can't put it on hold though since the item is on sale.

It hit all of deal sites, I think. I clicked through from SlickDeals, personally. So slow (the site) but hopefully it ships 🙂

Loud. Skip it.

Ironic at the H

Now I have to admit that up until this point I was struggling with why anyone would choose the Antec KÜHLER H₂O 620 over the Corsair H50. They perform nearly identically and Corsair has a long established record with water cooling. Granted, neither company manufacturers its own units but on reputation alone I would have been giving the edge to Corsair. That is until I saw just how much quieter the Antec unit is. The KÜHLER H₂O 620 looks identical to the H70, but we are really comparing it to the Corsair H50, and in a bit you will see why. Now whether or not minimal noise is at the top of your list, you have to agree that getting the same performance without all the noise is simply a win-win.

The noise it does produce is very easy to ignore as it is only a low hum and not nearly a high pitched whine.

Just came from the San Jose Frys. If you live near one, they do have it in stock at the store (at least at the sj one) for the same price.

The Kühler 620 performed very well at high fan speeds producing a thermal rise under 40°C (excellent for our test platform); however, noise levels were very high. With the stock fan slowed to produce 20 dBA@1m or lower, the thermal rise increased to 44~47°C. The pump speed had no impact in performance when coupled with the fan running at 6V and below (above that level the pump starts to get drowned out, so you might as well leave it running at max).

I used to to own this too. Removed it after a day.

Its $30, you can buy a better fan and still come out ahead. You're also only using one fan for CPU + exhaust instead of two, which could reduce noise, or you could use two quieter fans in push/pull. That review took neither of those into consideration.
