*OOS* MSI 6800 GT Pci-e $275 shipped @ Securemart

Assuming it's not a price mistake and they'll honor it (which we weren't sure about in the other thread in which this was posted), this is VERY hot. 🙂

looks so fishy!!! no photos no product info! I want to bite but my investigative side tells me otherwise?? any takers?

It looks like lots of their other items don't have info listed either, for whatever reason (EDIT: the model number is also correct on the page). ResellerRatings for this company are decent enough for me to consider it, and the worst they should be able to do is just cancel the order (I'm pretty sure it would be illegal for them to charge a higher price than I agreed to when I ordered).

I'm very seriously considering placing an order. 🙂

They have ok feedback at resellerratings.com

I read all of the reviews (mainly the negative ones) and it seems that those who left bad reviews were mostly whiners (complaining about having to pay return shipping on items they didn't like) and so forth.

I would give it a try if I needed a new card.

With tax in CA came out to be $296.86. Still hot! Ordered one, I will let you guys know what happens.

I took a shot with it earlier this afternoon. Couldn't pass up the price & I needed a good match for the desktop bundle from the AMD/MS thing. Thanks OP.. Hopefully its not a "price mistake".

I hope this works out for you guys who bought. After reviewing Securemart's website, they take no responsibility for manufacturer defects or problems. In fact they list a bunch of mfgs that they will not accept returns from and reserve the right to include any additional mfgs at any time. They also do not have a toll free number for either sales or service.
After googling msi 6800gt I found this rather disturbing website where MSI has 'allegedly' been dumping 6800 cards as 6800gt, buyer beware!

Well, I've heard that rumor too, but they have different product codes...one is the GTX, the other is GT which securemart is currently selling.

Hope this goes through :-D

Very interesting, thanks for the heads up.

I'm still tempted to buy though, but part of me wants to wait until (if) others receive their cards....but by then they might raise the price.....blah

I read that as well concerning MSI's problems, but I've have had good luck with MSI both in video cards and motherboards in the past. From what I understand, it was limited to a small number of cards sold in Germany.. and MSI has already responded to the story:

MSI responds to 6800GT problems
On Friday last week we reported, that MSI is selling NX6800GT-TD256E's which show seriously degrated performance.

Today MSI has come up with a Press Release which offers "immediate and free replacement or a refund" of the defective cards.

According to MSI, 350 defective cards were sold. Those cards do have NVIDIA's NV45 chip, MSI says the real cause of the "still unknown chip problem" remains to be found.

Cool, thanks for the post. 🙂 (And where did you find that info?)

Good to know, and it just makes it that much more tempting. 😀

MSI Responds here

It was on that same page that someone originally referred to concerning the problems..

Hopefully I'll have a card in hand by the end of the week to see what's what exactly.. 🙂
