I grabbed last one from BB. It was stacked behind buch of 8600 GTs . LOL.
I had 10% off, so it came out to $229 after 10% off and taxes. Fuck Dell - I am glad I cancelled.

I had a similar experience... found one mixed in with 8600 GT's in Marietta, GA. I had called ahead, gave them the SKU, and they reserved one for me. When I arrived, it was a 256MB card. I only found one 512MB on the shelf, but I didn't look any more when I found one. The cashier rang it up with 12% coupon, so I was pretty happy.

Picked one up last night, was in a different BB today, they also had them. $224 or so OTD. w00t.

I just got in on this today @ 209.44 + tax in Cleveland OH (mayfield hts store) got the 12% off w/out an issue, but the cashier had to manuely enter it. got 1% cash back w/ my CC too 🙂 so damn cheap for an overclocked Out of the box unit, sadly it's still the old fan, The best busy site didn't indicate any were in stock but they had 2 on the shelf when I got there.

Can someone confirm some stuff about Best Buy's return policy. My local stores haven't had any in stock all week, but I'd still like to get my hands on one if Dell doesn't come through. If I purchase a 8800GT at the regular $270 now, will I be able to return it for a complete refund by January 31st, even if it's used? Does Best Buy price match with itself for 30 days? If Best Buy price matches with itself, do you think the 8800GT will fall in price within a month?

I dunno about a month....Hard to say. You should ask them, I think they would price adjust if it fell in a month. I dont see why they wouldnt.

If you didnt open it, if it did fall in price in a month and they denied you pricematching within 30 days, couldnt you just say youd like to return it and get your money back, then repurchase it for the new price? 😛

I am really surprised it has come down to BEST BUY of all places having the best deal around on a 8800GT card. How sad is that lol. Something is definitely wrong when BEST BUY actually IS the best buy.

Yeah. It looks like the sale price just ended. That sucks I just checked a store near me and they say they have some in now. Oh well. Guess I cant be too greedy since I already got one. 😛

Finally found one, but for $279. 🙁 I think someone hid it or something. Cuz I didn't see it yesterday, and at the same bestbuy today, I see it.

Which one is better? XFX Alpha Dog or BFG OCed? (8800gt)

Think some came in stores Sat evening. Mine was out but today have some. York,Pa
They told me Sat they were none coming in this week figure that!
They may have been holding till the sale was over. They did give me the last weeks price though. No extra coupon though.

Do you suppose since i purchased a BFG 8800GT OC online on 12/11 that i can still apply the now expired 12% rewards discount?

Its unopened still, i dont know my options, i really wish i could of made it to Best Buy in time but its 25 miles from home and we had a bastard of a snow storm.

I dunno, subjective I guess. Regardless of which you get you are going to hit at wall at around 700mhz on the GPU without more voltage or mega cooling.

Just my luck, my 8800gt's fan died and stopped working. I installed rivatuner recently to increase fan speed to 90% which prevented my card from overheating. Guess what, today the fan totally died. It stopped spinning and it's good thing I noticed it because the whole PC was hot. THe card would have fried.

Anyway, I cant really exchange it at my local bestbuy because there is no stock. I just hope they replenish their stock before my 30 days are over. I'd hate to deal with BFG for a warranty replacement.

EDIT : I find out what killed the fan, the OC sticker applied on the top of the fan came off and slid underneath the fins preventing the fan from spinning. Everyone, be careful, if you are planning to speed up the fan, REMOVE THE OC STICKER.

WARNING!

This card has problems with cooling due to a bios problem AND the fan itself can be defective!

BFGR88512GTOCE BIOS - Update Version: 62.92.00.18 Posting Date: 12/18/2007 File Size:272KB Description: Update the the thermal senor fan control to reduce the operating temperature of the GPU. This is recommended only for users with thermal- related concerns and an older BIOS version.

On mine which I attempted to install today, the fan motor itself appears to be defective, and it feels like when turning by hand that something metallic in the fan motor is scraping something. It makes a horrible metal scraping sound when installed, too. It's amazing it did not burn up upon installing it. I just hope BB has another one in stock!

(Yes, I know I posted this in multiple threads, but it needed to be reposted, me thinks.)
