Good Lord the price of 8800GT/GTS keeps dropping; it's great that 8800GTS's price has fallen way below the $299-350 MSRP, even for an o/c'd card. nVIDIA must be clearing out the inventory for the upcoming introduction of 9800 GTX/GTS/GT, which are also based on G92, and per rumor don't offer significant performance improvement over the 8800 counterparts. 9800 series may have Displayport, but DP is still not widely available on monitors. 8800GTS 512 is to 8800GTX what 7900GTO was to 7900GTX. Same bang for less, much less, buck. Thanks, OP.

By the way, limit TWO per rebate.

What's Displayport?

DisplayPort is the new digital display interface that will eventually replace DVI, maybe even HDMI. It has higher data bandwidth to support higher resolutions. For current monitors, I don't think it makes any difference. Only a few of the larger (>24 in) and newer monitors, such as Dell's 2408WFP has this feature. Frankly, I still have difficulty discerning the image quality differences between DVI and analog connection.

DisplayPort Abstract
If you?re a home or office PC user, a gamer, a content producer ? or someone who simply believes in a better way ? then you should be excited about DisplayPort. DisplayPort delivers on the promise of digital displays. It replaces the clunky DVI interface and eventually replaces the analog VGA interface on displays and PCs with an innovative digital solution that supports the latest graphics and LCD technologies. DisplayPort assures that you get the best experience from your LCD, it simplifies display design and connections, enables interoperability with existing display interfaces and provides a technology foundation to deliver new and exciting display capabilities.

DP promises lightning-fast response time.
For gamers that'll be a blessing.
I hope.
A bit sidetrack here, sorry OP.

Wish I could receive the NE newsletter but for some reason they keep "dropping" me from the list or something (and no, I don't have any spam/bulk filters interfering with it). Been a subscriber forever, and spend a lot of $'s with them. Even contacted them, got forwarded to the peep who handles the newsletter. Told me my email addy was indeed in the system. My Acccount info at NE shows me subscribed as well. Yet haven't received a NE newsletter since mid January and when I try any codes listed here they don't work for me.

Anybody else experiencing this ?

I've got the same problem with them. I've signed up on more than one occasion and get the welcome email, but nothing else ever comes and I'm unable to use the codes too.

same here. It seems every time when I log into NE, I get asked whether I want to sign up for the newsletter. Even though I've signed up many, many times, I seldom get it. I guess I am still a subscriber if I am able to use the coupon code. Thank goodness for this forum. Some of the deals are just too tasty to pass.

the price after the introduction of 9800's will probably be even lower, but at least you've got to enjoy it for > 1 month already. Many people who got the card at introduction probably paid MSRP or more.

I've used my LAN party rig only one time, at a LAN party on 2/9. :( This card replaced an MSI 8800GT that sat unused in that system for two weeks. I need to stop these senseless upgrades.

OOS now. For those who play at ultra-high resolutions where 8800GTX edges out 8800GTS 512, Clubit has 8800GTX at $299 after $120 (yikes) rebates, with free shipping.

LOL. Would you care to upgrade to a 8800GTX for $300 AR (on Clubit)?

No, must put an end to the madness. That, and I just bought (received today) the $150 AR 8800GTS 320MB. Gonna use it in a second gaming rig build. Don't need yet another card.

Got mine today--a terrific product that makes my once mighty 7900GTO seem like a dud. I'm glad I held off the temptation to buy the $185 AR MSI 8800GT just a few days earlier. Hard to believe that the price dropped more than 40% off ofMSRP in less than 4 months.
