Yep -- it's already happened:

But does this really prove anything? Maybe this vendor has just decided to stop carrying the chip, thus it's "discontinued" for them?
How about GG's stock on this then? When will they run out, if it is indeed discontinued.

Trust me -- I have spoken with customer service over there and Tim told me that AMD is phasing them out. Also, if you don't beleive me, try and find a retail 1700+ over at newegg...

Yeah, I just checked AMD's site for some info and I noticed that on their volume pricing doc, they don't list anything below a 2000+

I emailed GG asking if they knew how long they'd have stock on the 1700+, be interesting to see what they say. I want to get that chip, I just need a cheap XP upgrade from my TBird, and it seems like alot of bang for the buck. I just want to catch the price low before it's OOS, since it's been dropping pretty fast lately.

OK. I am going to get this one - from AGOIA 1600+ to JIUHB 1700+. It's good only if it's unclocked, and I am happy if it can do 12.5*166 in my 8k3a+.

Money is kinda tight and I still need to get some quality RAM and a vidcard...

Opinions are wanted... feel free to add them... :)

Decisions, decisions...

I have the a7n8x deluxe, and like i said i have mine running @ 2.2ghz no problem. the ram will be what holds this chip back, so spend the extra money on that.

I dont like the odd size 70mm fan, but what are the chances of hitting 2gig with this HSF?Any other choices between this and something else around $25 for HS and Fan?

I just bought this HSF from googlegear, and I really like it. VERY quiet and keeps my slightly OCd 1800+ under 50C (mobo temp is usually ~40C - I've hit 53C after couple hours of BF1942).
Mind you, my case really sucks, I have an older single fan PS, AND I only have one case fan directly above the CPU. I'm sure I could get the temp a lot lower if I just tried.

If you guys want a good cpu cooler thats hella cheap just go get the SVC GC68 from svc. If it can keep a T-bird 1.4ghz @ 44C idle, it can keep one of these cpus at 38 - 40 C idle (overclocked). You will be amazed at how much cooler t-breds run than t-birds.

Yes. All copper Thermalright SK-7 for $19.99 or
similar but smaller SK-6+ for $9.99 hee-aa

There are no other heatsinks that can even come close to the price to performance ratio of these two Thermalrights.
Don't forget to get a fan. Watch for noisy ones because it may not be worth it to get few extra MHz at the price of the noise of a jet engine.

AMD has confirmed all cpus under 2000+ are discontinued. I was at Fry's (fountain valley) last week and they were sold out of almost all of them (oem 1700+ for $55 and Retail for $59, both tbred b's... too bad), found 1 1800+ OEM at the Anaheim store.

Well looks like I would be getting one these as well. Can't find any better deal anywhere and my local frys keeps trying sell celeron combos (jeez i don't like to throw money away!). I got a Soltek 75FRN2-RL just sitting here, waiting for a cpu, 1 week already!

Well looks like they are OOS. Hmmm, if they are discontinued then we probably won't see this anymore. But if they have a new shipment coming, they might just be better steppings!

I got one of the DUT3C JIUHB's. Not too bad. I'm easing it in at 11x175 (2 GHz) for now at 1.6 volts. What's interesting is that the info wasn't on the core, it was on a sticker. I can imagine them making a batch and going "OK, we need 20 1700s, 20 2100s, and 20 2400s" and just slapping different stickers on them.

I also got a DUT3C JIUHB with the other codes being 9428666271082 & 0311XPMW. If there any truth to the rumor that this may be a "re-binned" 2700 because the 8th and 9th digit of the first code is 27? Or is that just BS?

How fast are people getting these things to go with good air cooling? I won't be able to play with this for the next week or so . . .

Also, does anybody have a link to a good explanation of how to bridge the L1's on this chip?

Thanks,

Northland

DLT3C = 1.5v core
DUT3C = 1.6~v core

In terms of overclockability, and I am guessing heat performance, the DLT3C is the best 1700XP out there. Only drawback is that some of the DLT3C's, as in before week 08 of '03, can also be TBred A's. You need to know you are getting a B core... so you'll get a JH??B or a A????B. If it ends in B, it is a B. A, it is an A.

Someone stated earlier in this thread I believe (or I read it somewhere) that the 1700+ is already unlocked... But there is an article/video on how to do it on Tom's Hardware Guide.

mine is in...no surprise...JIUHB eleventh week of 03

dmcgoy said...my info was not on the core but on a sticker.... you mean that your cpu did not have the little black AMD id badge????( 1" by 1/4" at the bottom or side!) that is weird
