Oh well, hopefully someone will use their tech to make something almost as good.

I know its mean, but they have such a stranglehold on office software it isnt even funny.

I'd sure like to see MS begin to think of security as something other than a patch!!!!

<< A person familiar with the break-in told the Journal that it appeared the hackers accessed Microsoft's system by
e-mailing software, called QAZ Trojan, to the company's network and then opening a so-called back door through
the infected computer.

<< Miller said there was no evidence to suggest that any source code had been modified or corrupted in the attacks >>

Guess the next version of (pick one, or all) office/windows/I.E. won't be improved upon after all.

whoever did it, probably just lost the backup of the code they had written and decided to just get a copy from microsoft rather then rewrite it........... :Q

No big deal... it's not like the source code is that valuable in all practicality (btw, do any other coders get annoyed by the "blue-prints" analogy that these mainstream media sites keep using?).

But anyways, this is good because it will be proof that closed-source proprietary software (which use security through obscurity) do not work. I suspect these guys fill find large security holes in the Windows code.

I was hoping that they stole it so they can release it to the public under an open source theory. Then maybe the bug fixes will start rolling in from around the world. They certainly don't come from Redmond, WA, very often!

M$ is probably scared that the hackers will actually FIX the code, then M$ wouldn't be able to keep selling us "slightly-more-stable" OS'es.

That's quality. It was probably the government itself hacking MS. Just because they don't want to confide with the ruling agaist them :).
