Oops, Honda turns a critical eye to lagging Acura CL sales

and i see those things all the time... didn't know sales were so dismal...

EDIT: speaking of acura coupes, the 2 door legend was the prettiest car honda has ever made, not many of those around though

Huh! I have a CL-S, and so do 2 people on my block. I also see them everywhere. There must just be some regions where they don't sell any!

Shoot... does that mean the six speed won't be making it over to the TL-S? If the CL-S actually looked halfway decent, I bet they'd sell more. They got the engineers, all they need are some designers.

The only Acura I see are the old Legend or the souped up Civic called the Integra. Most rich people around my town prefer Mercedes, BMW, or Lexus. The CL is not as pretigious, I supposed. Guys like me would love to have a CL, but can't afford it. Those who can afford it choose a different path.

the RL needs an 8. i don't know what honda is smoking selling it with a 6. test drive that, then the LS 430 (granted the RL looks a lot better than the LS430, which looks like a donkey's ass), then the Q45 and you probably won't go home with an RL.

The new CL type-S 6spd manual has to be the most appealing front-drive coupe period. Sad to see rumors of its demise before it has been featured in a comparo in Car and Driver or MT.

The CLs major fault is the fact that it is a 2 door luxury car at an odd price point. It is not much more than a loaded up Accord V-6 coupe, but you get a lot more for your money, but it is near the 30k or slightly over mark, so many people will just pass it and move on up to 35k BMW 3 series cars.

People buying an Accord V-6 coupe may already be stretching their dollars to get into that, and once you get over 30k you get some pretty stiff competition, and as many people will want to make the stretch and get into the MBW 3 series.

hmmm.. the CL's price point sort of sucks because most people in the near luxury sedan category prolly want a 4 door sedan more than a coupe. and if they are selling it for the same price.. what will most early 30's or late 20's people buy? a TL instead of a CL. I know I prefer a TL than a CL, and im 19.

If the cl was a couple grand cheeper.. it would be a different story.

In order to compete with the BMW 3 series, they need to make the CL rwd and improve the looks. Of course, Honda doesn't really have a platform to build off of, but I don't see how it's supposed to compete w/o those two things.

The 6-speed tranny is a step in the right direction. All they need to do right now is to put bigger slicks on it, trick up the suspension, add a limited slip and squeeze some more horsepower out of the 260hp type-s (maybe 275-300hp will do).
