Oops bios live update disaster

thok

In building a nice system for my sister, my nVidia 6150 was nicely working, but to give it the final touch, I decided to look for updated drivers. MSI recommended quite a few and that all went well, so I decided why not the bios too. Without a floppy drive I used the windows option and did not bother about a backup. In windows I saw it cleared the old bios and filled it with the new one and the then screen went black and it did not come back ever since. :brokenheart:

What can I do now to to make it work again? I was using the integrated video from the motherboard and perhaps adding a separate videocard could help, will defenitely try that but please any recommendations are welcome. Tried clearing cmos already with the battery removed.

Thanks, Hans

System: MSI K8NGM2-FID; 2GB Samsung PC3200; Seasonic S12 500; AMD Opteron 165

The only possible recovery (besides physically replacing the bios chip), is via the bootable floppy method.
Include a .bat batch file that will automatically flash the bios, and see if that works. This method does not require
anything to be visible on screen. This method would not work however, if the bootable floppy option was disabled at
the time you were attempting the bios flash.

Thanks for answering, I added an old videocard and with that I was able to start visibly. I will set the bios look for external video first, as it stayed dark when setting to onboard first. Found an old floppy drive + cable so will carry out flashing of bios and hopefully that includes the bios for the onboard video too.

Booting with a floppy with amiboot.rom on it and keeping 'Ctrl + Home' pressed fixed the bios. So it is 100% ok now.
