Wrong forum I know but this is more of a general statement about the game...nothing specific.

I did not buy Doom 3 at launch because I did not have a card that would play it...got a 6800 NU about a month ago and it came with Far Cry...oooh this is nice! Then bought EQ2 , Unreal 2K4 and recently WoW.

Anyways I sold my 6800 NU and bought a GT that came with the full version of Doom 3 , tweaked the settings as best I could and holy crap!!!!!!!!!

This is the most incredible game I have ever laid eyes on and its sooo fun!!

The lighting , shadows , textures , effects and details are un freaking real!

The 6800 GT runs the game like butter and it looks awesome on my 2001FP.


Nope I dont have HL2 yet ...i have my plate so full of games right now that its not even funny.


If HL2 looks better than this then I just dont know what to say...I will say that I doubt it though.


Being a fan of Resident Evil I love the scary element to the game.


Im definately buying HL2 but Doom 3 is my priority right now.
 
i agree....i don't know why d3 recieved so much harsh criticism. I LOVED it! And, let me say, I had to wear a clean pair of Depends every time I played...

I actually think hl2 does look better and is definatly a better game. That's not to belittle d3...it's just that hl2 is the greatest thing you'll ever experience on a pc--literally. But d3 will scare the hell out of you! Awesome game...congrads!

Doom 3 looks nice, but it gets old pretty quick. I found HL2 to be far more enjoyable.
 
I got Farcry for free with my mobo/CPU combo, getting Doom3 for free with 6800GT, and I have enough money for HL2 and then some so I'm set 🙂 Glad to hear that Doom 3 is better than the critics said.
 
i am three quarters of the way through d3 it is scary but repetitive and a little cheap (you clear a room and they opena secret door and teleport in some new demons). it was overhyped but worth the money. this has the best graphics...... but hl2 is an amazing game, i think overall the graphics are better then d3 (different but overall mood and immersion are better inhl2).

let me put it another way, i have had d3 since it came out and i am three quarters of the way through, i bought hl2 when it came out (last week) and am three quarters of the way through. i cannot stop going down this ride called half-life2.
 
I love Doom III's graphics and overall Gameplay but to me Half Life 2 is a better Game. You really have to think to figure you way through the game and the graphics are outstanding also. They both are great games in their own way but for overall gameplay I like Half Life 2 the best.
 
Doom 3 has the best graphics engine, but the level designers didn't really do anything with it. It's just the same black/grey corridors throughout the whole game. There were many times in hl2 were i just went 'wow', but never in doom 3 except maybe the first 10 minutes.
Bottom line is artists/level designers >>>>> graphics engines.
 
I agree i think Far Cry and HL2 have better content whereas DIII has better graphics. But who cares they are the top 3 games of 2004. THey are all awesome!
