Onvia 700e's - Are they the new stepping?

Once again I have the sell/upgrade fever. Thinking of selling my rock solid 600e@800 and getting a 700e in hopes of hitting 933 with a 133 fsb. Any of you guys know if the retail Onvia 700e's are the new and favorable stepping?

Also, I haven't put this baby up fs yet, so speak up if you want it.

I don't know.

You may know this, but if you can get the CPU's S-spec before buying or before opening the package, you can determine the stepping by checking here:
http://support.intel.com/support/processors/sspec/p3p.htm

The s-spec is the 5-character code beginning with S or SL that's on the outsibe of the retail box, on the chip and on the top of the SECC2 cartridge.

Any P3 at 800 MHz or more is supposed to be cB0.

I purchased my 700E from Onvia a few weeks ago. It was the new cb0 stepping. I don't recall the s-spec right now, it's something like SLY45 or something like that. Haven't tried much overclocking with it yet. Mine was the retail FC-PGA.

I ordered my 700e from them 2 weeks ago, and got a Cb0. The S-Specs are SL45Y. Mine was sent from Pa.

Thanks. I ordered mine yesterday (Wednesday) and it is coming from PA to Boston. I have my fingers crossed for Friday. What a deal after the coupon and pointclick. I just hope is goes to 933 with the ease my 600 went to 800.

Are you guys doing good with ordering from Onvia? I've attempted to order different things from them on 4 different occasions. Everytime, the item shows in stock, credit card gets authorized...a few days go by, then I get an email saying it's back ordered. They have always said they would process my order when they come in, but never have.
The last one that really pissed me off was back over a month ago, maybe two, there was a good shipped price on MSI Slotkets. I ordered about 20 of them. Then got the backorder email a couple days later. Last week, someone said they were in stock, so I order another 20, again a few days go by and I get the back order. I know people have been receiving them. I wonder if they want to reneg, due to the free shipping on that many items and not tell me that? Anyway, it seems odd to have order from somewhere 4 times and never be able to buy a product. Ok rant off.

Compuwiz, I just recieved my MSI sloket yesterday after being backordered for about a month. Call 'em up to see what going on. Maybe since you had a large order it will take awhile to fill?

The 700e I ordered from Onvia arrived earlier today from Carol Streams, Illinois. It's a cb0, so I'd say your chances are good if you live in the midwest.

Where you live doesn't really matter, though, because you can return it and ask for a new one if it isn't cb0, provided the box hasn't been opened, according to the sales rep I spoke with...

BTW, you can get one for $215 without going through Pointclick if you use the coupons at http://www.techbargains.com. Quite a deal!:D:D

Well, I called them and they couldn't help me, since they dont know when they will get more. I did find this out. Onvia does not stock any product at all. They are strictly a drop shipper. The have a site and sell products out of other vendor inventory, then it's drop shipped to you. :)

I ordered mine last Thursday morning and I received it on Friday. Mine was a cB0 cpu. I'm running it at just over 900mhz right now on my PC100 RAM and I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get it up to and maybe past 933mhz when I receive my new PC133 RAM.

Compuwiz is right, they don't stock at all. They drop-ship from Ingram-Micro distribution centers(Egghead and Buy.com also do this if you live in California).

Which is why if you track the stuff I get, most of it comes from the Ontario Hub... :)

Hi
I am about to build my 1st overclocking system and I would like to know more about the 700E chip from onvia.com. I went to the site but could find 700E and what's cb0 and PA. Please help me out if you can show me the link directly to the 700E and also the $25 coupon code. Thanks

Cool, thanks for all the info guys. I just checked UPS tracking and it will be here today (Friday):)

I have had only good luck with Onvia. I got my PIII 600 from them and it shipped immediately and like I said, the 700E was shipped from PA the day I ordered it. I also ordered the Prophet II 64MB and cancelled it a few days later and that process was fine as well. Since they are a drop shipper, it makes sense the results vary by product.

DataFly - $215 without pointclick? Wow, too late though. I didn't check out your link, but I assume there are coupons out there for >$25? Anyhow, I am happy as I sold my 600 at a fair price.

You're lucky LarryJoe.
I just received my 700e fgpga processor from onvia and it is a cA2 processor. Shipped from California as I recieved the chip the next morning via Ground shipping.
PROD CODE: BX80526F700256 ESL3T3
FPO/BATCH7009A151
VERS: A03499-002
PACKED 03/31/2000
MADE IN PHILIPPINES
I haven't opened the box yet and do not intend to as it is going right back. I checked the database at overclockers site, as everybody should, and this stepping sucks.
Has anyone ever returned a processor or other item to onvia.com?
Is it easy? TIA

The Ingram Micro SoCal warehouse is still stock full of cA2 chips... Until they run out, I don't think they'll order more(and when they do order more, they'll likely be cB0's).

Returns are easy, you can either call them or e-mail them.

You're only gett an extra 133 Mhz for the price you have to pay + overclocking. I don't think it's worth it. If you're a gamer and you want more performance, upgrade your video card (try a GeForce or if you are a rich spoiled white kid, go for a GeForce 2 GTS). With a 32-bit processor and OS, performance increases are smaller and smaller as you climb up the Mhz ladder. The new speed would probably get you another extra 5 fps (can you really tell?)

ColdFusion718, your comments reek of envy and prejudice. Please don't post in my threads.
