Wow, you guys seem to want to jump down my throat. So I suppose you both have masters degrees in Computer Science making $200k/year? No you don't. The fact of the matter is I just turned 23 and I'm worth more than the "average" adult in earning potential now and in the future. Moreover I'm happy with myself and I don't feel the need to put down other people's educations. BWLAH! I even admitted that ITI isn't like Harvard. They take a person and make that person worth an income. They did it with me and many of my friends and we don't regret going.

I am Skoorb's fiance and to add one important fact to the whole matter is that without a doubt, his IQ is probably 20 points higher than any of yours. :)

AND he is cute. ;)

I cannot answer questions about salaries, etc. in Ottawa. I can say that houses and appartments here are expensive but most other things are not. As for

"One thing the interviewer told me was that Ottawa is not a great town for single guys."

Ottawa has the best looking women in Canada, way better than Montreal in my opinion. The night life is excellent and the restaurants are the most diverse in the country after Toronto.

Well I guess you opinion doesn't count for very much :D. Anyway don't bit off my head I'm just telling you what the recruiter said. I have no idea what the night life in Ottawa is like as I've never lived there.

What I personally heard a couple of days ago from a very outgoing and sociable girl is that she likes ottawa but left a couple of times (moved there twice) miserable because people are cliqish and its hard to meet people (she was not meeting people through work though). On the other hand one of her best friends has nothing but praise to heap on Ottawa...she said there were a couple of "Maritime bars" for Atlantic losers who need to hang out with their own kind :p

Liverwort, it doesn't count if your his fiance. ;)

Damn Kami, where do you work? I'd be lucky to find a $18/h job in Toronto.

BTW, anyone know how good the IT jobs are in Toronto? I really really like Toronto (just love the different cultures :)), and don't want to move, but if there are no jobs here, then I'd have no choice (Maybe I can get a job in ATI tech ;) [yeah, I know it not in TO, but it's close enough :)]).

Skoorb,

I just took up an offer for the summer paying $17.25. I'm currently in my second year of CS at the U of T. That seems to have been on the lower end of what I could demand (I could probably push for $20) but I've worked at this place before and liked it a lot, and the offer was already more than I was earning last year.

EDIT
I just read some of the dumbf*ck comments by people about ITI. There are some pretty stupid people in my program that do better academically than I am, but then go blank when it's time to produce - so I can somewhat relate to how you feel having heard these comments (I hear them about grades, you hear them about school...). Don't listen to those stupid comments. When it comes to careers, it's all about how your produce and it sounds like you already have some experience behind you, so just keep on getting experience.

GL Thanks :) Really they don't bother me in the least because I think such comments are rooted in an insecurity somewhere. I already have a BSc from the "best undergrad in the country", but it wasn't going to get me a job and ITI can. It was never intended to compete against CS degrees and teach in 9 months what it takes you guys 3-5 years to do; we deal with different technologies altogether.

And about your internship my girlfriend's brother is doing a CS degree in NFLD and already making pretty good cash with his co-op positions. I envy his earning potential when he is done. Although ITI grads and CS grads will rarely overlap it doesn't change the fact that while we have to go away to get experience you guys can pretty well pick anywhere. Oh well, I didn't care for the math much!
