Only IE6 connects to net What did I do wrong ?

I just got a new Laptop and was wondering why the only thing that will connect to the web is IE 6. I'm running XP PRO . Thanks

Are you using a router? Dialup directly from the laptop? Using MS ICS? How are you using the laptop to get to the Internet?

Home Portal 1000 DSL Router/ Modem With USB Home PNA modem going to the laptop. I'm trying to get ICS to go to XBoX but can't get it too work .
