From Paypal site: Only accept single payments from single PayPal accounts

Payments by a buyer from multiple accounts for a single item are a fraud indicator. Under no circumstances should you accept these payments. Acceptance of these payments will result in loss of protection under this Policy and possible termination of your account.

My question:

Why is it a fraud indicator?

People really shouldn't have multiple accounts.

If I send you $337 from Susan Bates, $215 from Jason Jones, and $522 from John Ryan wouldn't that seem a little suspicious?

So, we should not sell to the buyer for the following situation

A buyer and his friends want to buy a gift for their friend's birthday and each one pay the seller their shares to the buyer.

So, to play it safe, I will follow paypal's rule

How about the following situation:

buyer hijack someone account and buy something using a single account
Seller sent item
Later, paypal found out that the transaction was a fraud.
Will the seller lose any money?

Reason I asked, I sold something on eBay and the buyer once said his paypal account was erased! I don't know what "Erased" meant. Then he said he sign up for a new account and he could only send $100 and ask me what he should do. I told him to open another paypal account to pay for the $25 difference.

He said that he will do that and it has been 8 hours and I have not hear anything from him

He has zero eBay feedback and I got a feeling that he might be a troll

Isn't there a sending limit on free accounts (or was that receiving)?

Yet they allow you to have multiple accounts...

I have one personal account, and one premium account. I only use the premium when I have no alternative to accepting a credit card payment.

Edit: Good point by ViperGTS about accounts with different names. That definitely should raise eyebrows.
