DO NOT BUY KODAK...

I mean, WTF? FutureShop has had this deal on these discs for almost six months now, and there's a very good reason...

THEY SUCK!

If a deal sounds to good to be true - especially from FutureShop!?! - then it's not.

All the serious websites reviewing this brand say the same thing. Kodak DVD-/+Rs suck the big one. There was a warning posted on Redflagdeals.com about them... the people in the VideoHelp forums are also aware of this.

Kodak is currently crappier than Princo and no-name media. There's nothing wrong with the burner. Buy good discs next time, don't be a greedy Ferengi. Maxells are also available, and they spank Kodak's ass, big time. If worse comes to worst, you could try the TDKs from Costco, although they recently changed their dye to a poorer one.

Maxell is all I buy at this point in time. RICOHJPN media code. 'nuff said! :)

I loved the Verbatim for their CD-R, but all the DVD-R and +Rs I've seen from them lately were CMC MAG... plus they're more expensive.

When Maxells were too expensive, I used to get TDKs from Costco, but like I said, they recently switched dye manufacturers, so now I avoid them

Last week, Futureshop had 100 Maxells -/+R for $49, can't go wrong with that.

Two things:
Consider getting a better burner, ie. NEC ND3520A for about $65 at newegg.com
Get better quality media, ie. Fuji DVD-/+R 8x or faster. 50 pack at BestBuy for $19.

If you have a ND-1100A, upgrade to ND-1300A. It'll give you some DVD-R support but it's not native. I had similar problems but after I got my ND3500A and flash it with 2.18 by the dangerous bros, I've been a burning fool. Most Fuji's but I also have TDKs and Sonys. The ND1100/1300 likes Fuji's (taiyo yudens) more so than others.

Been in your shoes before, this should help out.

WooDaddy, if WarDemon666 bought Kodaks in FutureShop, it means he's in Canada, even if his profile says otherwise. In Canada, you can't find the Fuji discs you 're talking about. Best Buy is anything but what its name suggests...

It was a burner problem :(

"Power calibration error"

I hit it, and it burned properly. Hopefully it will last me for a while...

I exchanged the dvd's. The first ones didnt work, but the ones from the middle worked.. And then the top ones started working.. but the old kodaks still didnt read...

Anyways. What could a "power calibration error" imply? Bad power supply?

I noticed that I had to burn at 2x and not at 4x otherwise the buffer would go down on the recorder.. I thought it was because I had to many programs running, quit a few, still did the same (750 mhz duron)

anyways,

Thanks for all the replies
