I've set my refresh rate to 85Hz and turned v-sync on. But when I play CS I only get 60fps. When I turn v-sync off I get over 100. I thought v-sync was supposed to limit your framerate to your refresh rate. Anyone have any ideas?
I notice you're using an Nvidia graphics card. You wouldn't happen to have CS rendering in OpenGL mode would you? Nvidia drivers have this strange bug, so that when you run any OpenGL app, it defaults you to a 60hz refresh rate. You can fix this with a small utility.
Try manually setting the refresh rate at the setting that you play half life. e.g. if your desktop is 1024x768@32bit / 85hz change tp 16bit then set the refresh rate.
Yeah I'm using OpenGL, I'll try that fix and see if it works. My desktop is at 1280x1024x32 @ 85Hz. I'll try changing my desktop to 16-bit if that fix doesn't work. Thanks.

Off topic, but it sounds like you're running some sort of 4:3 CRT since you're at 85 Hz. It's a pet peeve of mine and you're free to use whatever you want, but just in case you didn't know 1280x1024 is a 5:4 aspect ratio, which means unless you're using a 5:4 monitor (like some TFT monitors) all of your pictures are going to be distorted.
