in many countries theres shortage because of stupid laws, like a law guaranteeing the kid can find out who the donor is when they grow up. removing anonymity just opens pandoras box and limits the supply to only weird men who wouldn't mind being hunted down by potentially unwelcome kids you didnt raise down the line.
