Only 30gb detected on 160gb. Please Help!!

I know this has to do with the large drive thing, but I was under the impression that as long as you were on an ata133 interface, you'd be okay. Why is my drive only showing 30gb. Oh, btw, I do have sp1 installed. The drive is a Maxtor 160, and my mobo is an a7n8x(nforce 2)

check the jumper on the drive to see if it is on correctly. One time i mistakenly put the jumper on the 2mb setting so windows only recognized the drive as 2mb 🙂

yea, I had set the jumper wrong, but it still wouldn't detect it until I made the drive storage instead of my boot drive. Now I'll just copy the new boot drive now that it's recognized.

okay...i have the same problem. i also have sp1. i've installed maxblast 3. i set up 160gb drive as an additional drive too. my mobo is asus cuv4x-e. i tried putting the jumper as slave and also as cable select.

Disk overlay programs are the devil - JMHO.

weird...i got mine to detect the 160GB by making my drive the bootable drive. also had a maxtor...that's bizarre.
