Hehe, it is lighter than the A40 and it looks better too IMHO. The menu system is top notch and the picture quality is great. I haven't seen many reviews on the web for the camera, but the ones I have seen have been quite favorable. The only thing they bitch about is the shot to shot speed and that isn't even an issue to me at least.

Plus, getting a 128MB card at the time of purchase plus two 16MB ones in the mail almost 2 weeks later ain't bad at all :D Hell, it even comes with it's own battery charger for the included NiMH batteries and also includes a 8MB SD card in the box.

So you end up getting the camera, rechargeable batteries, a charger, and a total of 168MB of storage for $200. Can't beat that :D

Does the Panasonic accept regular sized AA's? I love the fact that my Canon A40 takes regular AA's, pop in 4 of my Panasonic rechargeable 1600 mAH batteries and I'm ready to go. Now if only I could learn how to use the friggin' digicam!

The only noticeable drawback to the Panasonic is lack of CF support. Yes it is compensated by the fact that you get 168MB total storage initially but CF rules.

Yes, it accepts regular sized AA batteries. Only takes two batteries, yet they last quite a long while.

This camera fit my criteria for a low end digicam:
-CHEAP (relatively)
-2MP minimum
-3x optical zoom minimum
-uses anything BUT memory stick
-uses AA size batteries
-small

Adding to it one 128MB and two 16MB memory cards for FREE just makes the decision easier.

The picture quality is acceptable (I've seen more impressive pictures, but from much higher end digtal SLRs....I know, apples and oranges...). A few features I wish it had are TIFF/RAW formats, electronic view finder, and manual controls. I take this camera everywhere so I'm happy with the ease and convenience for those casual and "in the moment" snapshots.

I rate this camera one step below the Canon A40 simply because the A40 has manual controls. I haven't used the A40 so I can't comment on the difference in performance/picture quality.

For serious picture taking, I'll still use my film SLR...at least until I can afford a digital SLR. :D

Can anyone comment on the shutter lag(time in-between pressing button and actually taking picture)
I take pictures at all our tournaments, and it's getting annoying having to anticipate plays so that my camera takes the picture at the right time.

I had this camera.... sold it on Ebay.... Great pics during the day... but during night... forget it. I tried alllll settings... without a tripod your screwed. Also, my key chain flash light produces more light than this flash. Good camera during the day though.... very nice crisp vivid pics. I got lots of samples if you want them of what i took with it while I had it. Send me a PM.

Also, while on this topic... im looking for a camera... around $200.... that makes nice NIGHT pics... :) Any ideas?
