Looks like the 3 films will gross almost 2 billion total.
What was their cost?
Did any actors or others recieve points of the gross as part of their contract?
<< Well I am seeing it at least once more in the theater so I can see the TTT preview again, and that'll make 10 theater viewings. I think I did my part. >>
Dear lord! You realize you can never get those 35 hours back, right?
I saw it last night for the first time.
Let's just say that that's the only $5 it's going to make off of me. I wasn't terribly impressed with it. I read the books along time ago, and I enjoyed them greatly. However the movie didn't really impress me. I also went into it think about what everyone else said, that it had awesome special effects and blah blah blah. Having gone to school to learn how to do video effects, I noticed immediatly almost all of the CG shots. When I can tell it's CG it really bothers me.
I have not seen it yet. I know I know, pretty pathetic. I have been planning on seeing it every weekend for like the past month, just have not made the plans. I will go see it this weekend though, hopefully.

No sh*t sherlock! What's your point? I chose to go and spend that much time watching it.

Easy, tiger! No need to get so upset - my comment was intended to be lighthearted. I really did not like the movie at all, but everyone is different and lord knows most people love it - it is none of my business if you choose to watch it 100 times.
I went and saw it again on Friday - that makes four theater viewings for me, the first three within the first couple of weeks, then last firday for the trailer, which BTW, totally rocked... 🙂
I am a huge fan of both Tolkien and Harry Potter, and I have to say that I think Harry Potter was a better adaptation of the book. I liked LOTR, but through no fault of Peter Jackson's, I just feel that the book is too large to be transferred to the screen. So much gets lost in the translation. Harry Potter is different in that the story actually spans something like 7 books, but each book has it's own conclusion. So by nature it was a better adaptation.
