Can it run Crysis?

It's not on the current list of games but they were running Crysis during the beta.

Strange that it's not available now. But it seems like Crysis would be the perfect game for OnLive. It's huge, so downloading the demo isn't worth it. It's demanding, so most people aren't able to run it. And it's PC-only, and a lot of people have consoles and no gaming PC.

I'm guessing it has to do with licensing. That appears to be OnLive's biggest issue right now is getting agreements to get games.

i don't care what these reviewers say there is no way in hell this is going to run lag free when it hits the general population. id would be annoying as shit playing a single player game with any type of input lag.

i still think the whole concept is pretty badass though, just not going to be a reality any time soon of something i could enjoy.

It's not ideal for twitch based shooters like Unreal Tournament or Borderlands but it works well enough for other genres. Especially ones that do well with a gamepad.

Now this is indeed interesting. Why would the bandwidth requirement be different based on screen size? I would assume the resolution is the same regardless (1080p) so wouldn't it be sending the same amount of data

The usual mantra is that 1080p is worthless unless your screen is larger than 50" ( I think that's the size ). Based on that, they could easily send in lower resolutions and resize the picture to 720p of 1080p depending on need. Heck, your modern consoles do this all the time since most games don't render in 1920x1080 and some can't even render in 1280x720.

edit: N/M. OnLive is advertising 1080p now. Missed that.

Now just to keep things straight... even the micro console is streaming the PC version of these games, correct? That means no local multiplayer for anything which is kind of a bummer and one of the few perks consoles have always had.

Depends on whether or not the game has local multiplayer implemented. For example, LEGO Harry Potter has local multiplayer.

well i dont even mean shooters though. im talking god of war, uncharted, ratchet and clank, etc.

if i were to play hot shots golf on there, there is just no way a game can be lag free if it is not local. timing is critical in a game like that.

that is what is annoying sometimes about ssf4 online. there is always a tad slight delay, and it is constant usually among matches. however different opponents give different lag, and some are more playable than others.

i dunno, just playing a game like god of war or uncharted with any type of input delay would really turn me off.

I may have missed something...How is a $100 console able to run Crysis? Is it running it at 640x480 resolution or something? What is the GPU unit/processor for this console?

OnLive runs server farms that handles all processing and rendering for the games and streams the games to your PC or the microconsole.
