Online Sweepstakes: HAVE YOU EVER WON ONE

Just wanted to see how many actually won a online sweepstakes and actually received anything or If you was told you won and didnt receive anything.

I was on www.unlockxbox.com and was told I won the daily sweep and won a xbox 360 elite live gamer, 10 games, buncha msn points and 1 year subscription to xbox live gold.
They gave me a confirmation number on the spot and emailed me as well..

They still have around 30 more of these to give away as of today

This contest goes from:1."Beginning August 20, 2007 at 12:00:01 AM Central Time ("CT") through October 28, 2007 at 11:59:59 PM CT, go to www.unlockxbox.com ("Website"), log-in to your account and you will be automatically notified if you are a winner, subject to verification.

2. TO CLAIM A PRIZE: Follow the on-screen instructions in order to claim a prize.

3.(70) Daily Prizes Available. Each winner gets an Xbox 360 Elite console, 2,000 MSN Points, ten (10) Xbox 360 titles (of Sponsors' choosing), and a one (1) year Xbox Live Gold subscription." These are valued at $1,175.00

I also got to thinking about the taxes on it (LOL) and was doing some research on what the taxes would be... It will be a little over $300.00

But I did run over something else while I was researching that..

Extreme home makeover, Wow I never knew they had to pay taxes on what was being done. But if they have $200,00 to $300,000 worth of work done they have to pay taxes on that. Hell those people are already poor or they wouldnt be getting that work done to they're house. Just think of the taxes at the end of the year on that plus the property tax on top of that.

Are they really helping the people out in this scenario

Yup the only instructions was to verify your personal information 🙂

Guess Dorito's and Microsoft are the operators of the sweeps 😉

One time I won a Sealab 2021 t-shirt from adult swim.

your prize > my prize

🙁

Edit: Wasn't there a AT member who won like 10 grand,.... like last month from a contest? Some chick,....?

I won a T-shirt on here couple year back, I replied with my address but never got it, didn't bother with a follow up.

got a free 2GB 2nd gen ipod nano from the chicago auto show a couple of months ago! i just had to enter my address and such and some guy emailed me with a followup. pretty nice!

I won a 2005 Mazda 6 a few years back

OK I lied I've never won anything. I'm a complete and utter online sweepstakes failure. 🙁

Well I know one thing, The prize I won is rated at $1,175.00 I wonder what the taxes on that is going to be..

The information they sent stated they will send the tax form with the Xbox 🙁

Geekbabe has won tons of stuff, cash, trips, you name it, she's won it.

I've won a laptop, 4 mountain bikes, $500, $100 savings bond, Sony boombox, $200 watch, and some other stuff I don't remember.

The amount of tax you'll have to pay depends on your situation. It will get taxed as $1,175 of income.

I got a copy of KKND2, a foam tank and a T-Shirt. Kicker is the contest was from UK, but they didn't limit it to just UK. The prize came from the publisher, based in Australia. Overall, pretty cool

I've won a pair of concert plus meet and greet tickets, a copy of Windows 2000 (when it was released), and some other stuff. I don't remember though. Nothing huge.

Girlfriend won an Athlon 64 FX55, motherboard and a gig of ram as well as a trip for two to the Athlon 64 launch party in San Francisco a few years ago.

Yeah I wish I had more time to set and play online sweeps... But I am on the road to much (LOL)

My Daughter won a pickup about 6 months ago.. Tax free.. They ( The car lot ) said it was a gift to the winner so no taxes for her 🙂

I just received another confirmation email, They will be calling tomorrow 🙂

All I have to do is verify who I am and tell them the confirmation code I have 🙂

So I see that these sweepstakes are for the most part legitimate, But I guess there is good and bad in everything..

But just knowing all this I know that I will only sign up on the major brand sweepstake sites, I looked into one earlier and there was someone advertising a link to win a Xerox printer/ But the link went to a hackers website where they were keylogging..

Just if you are going to log onto to sweepstaking sites.. make sure they are real 🙂

Thanks to Geekbabe I discovered OLS and have won a few (smaller) contests.

I'm waiting for my first $10k win or new house 🙂
