It seem fishy that an online shopping site requested a credit card image scan, to send it to them by email after I pay for the items using PayPal?

I'm in Canada, and I'm buying a wedding gift for a friend in Indonesia, and the online shopping website is Indonesian.

Please share if you have experience with buying from overseas?

I contacted their live chat for help, and the operator told me that I need to scan my credit card. So I came here to check with people that have experience with overseas dealing.

I've bought from Europe, and the UK, and never been asked to email(!) my card. If it's not a scam, they shouldn't be running a business cause they don't know what they're doing.

That makes no sense. You paid with paypal. It's paid. They also want your CC info, not to mention scanned and emailed? Wow, that's beyond ridiculous and shady. I'd steer clear of that.

Though I can't think of how a scanned picture of a CC is any different than providing the info, because they always ask for the ccv number and all that anyway, but still, seems really fishy.

Okay, I changed my tune after doing a little digging.
No reviews anywhere (whois has them going back to 2009, you would expect someone to have written a review somewhere by now), and it looks like even if they are legit company they must be just shipping their flowers internationally, which you can get a reputable and bigger floral company to do.

If they initially asked you do do business through PayPal, and their site says they don't ask for the CC number, then do NOT give them your credit card. When I first read your post I thought you gave them the number already, but there is zero reason to give them your card number if they supposedly go through PayPal.

I'm also not seeing a PayPal verified seal, so I wouldn't trust paying through that way, either.

Contacts seem to be through SMS via VoIP only (Skype), generic Gmail accounts, and no physical addresses. Big red flag.

You already have a PayPal account correct?

The whole purpose of using Paypal is to prevent a vendor from getting your CC information. If there is a problem with a transaction you should be communicating with PayPal directly.

Exactly. Paypal has your info, they pay the vendor so you don't have to provide your credit card info to some shady vendor. Tell them to go pound sand.

lol I'll admit to complying with this request in the past, before the paypal age.

I bought a thinkpad from a pretty big & seemingly reputable retailer, and they wouldn't charge my card until I faxed them a copy of it! I did, and no problems, but years later being slightly less stupid now I wouldn't do it again, much less with a paypal payment.

That's what paypal is for. The buyer's protected, and the seller doesn't have to worry about unauthorized purchases with someone else's card, making sure they have it in their hand etc. Zero need to see your card, it's not their concern.

ebay ships to all parts of the world....except Indonesia...and im serious and I don't know why but I just want to let you know
