So who out there is free and has the highest intrest rates? I remember seeing a thread a while back in Hot Deals that had a whole slew of them, but I can't turn it up :(

I'm just tired of getting crap for intrest from my bank on my free savings. I got the account really just to have a place to siphon money away from my checking account so it would be harder to spend it. Now that I've got about 1k worth, I want to get something better than like .003% intrest on it.

ING Direct, HSBC Online and Emigrant Direct are the major ones.

ING has slightly lower rates than the other two, but from what I've read their website and customer service are much better.

I went ahead and signed up for ING. I remember reading similar things about their customer service as well MrChad, and they're a name I recognize more than HSBC or Emigrant.

Sucker. Shoulda gone with CitiBank's e-Savings. By the way, HSBC is in the top 5 as far as global banks go.

I have a Citibank Student Checking so I was able to open up a Citi E-Savings account. Also have an HSBC online savings account which I opened up a month before switching from NorthFork Bank to Citibank.

Here are my internet savings banks (all of them are paying 5% APY or higher and these rates are for savings, not CD, you can withdraw your money at anytime):

Citi
HSBC
Presidential
Emigrant

Why would anyone get 1% or so at the local B+M banks are beyond me.

Don't forget Capital One, they are currently at 4.8% and are usually within .25% of the highest.
