if you are talkin about intel, forget it
only way its ulocked is if its engineering sample, and i doubt a store would be selling them (unless maybe under the table...)

if its amd athlon, which one?

It was a general question. But i guess i was wondering if there were athlon XPs out there that come unlocked. There is not a specific speed or revision im looking for, just wanted to see what there is out there. thanks for replying.

Anything that's a tbred B is unlocked as long as you have the right motherboard.

newegg sells tbred b 2100+'s
excaliberpc sells tbred b 2100+'s and 1700+'s

pcnut also sell them as well..

yeah.....my friend got a 2.66GHz engineering sample.......from a major OEM in malaysia.....lucky guy.....but his mobo doesn't allow oc'ing🙁

So if you get this combo...you can just plug in and clock away?....excellent....although could cause some chip toasting for some n00b's to o/c (ie me 😀)
