Online Pre-Calculus Course? Do those count as HS credit at all?

I was thinking of taking an online pre-calculus course over the summer. I'm not sure exactly how those work; Are you tested on the material in any way, and then the grades are reported to your HS? technically you can cheat then, no? In that case, it would make sense if the online courses there are just there, but don't count as a grade or as any credits. Anybody have any more info on this?

I had a friend who did this; I believe what happened was that after he was finished with the "coursework" (whatever that happened to be), they then sent an exam that a counselor at your school would administer to you, or something to that effect. I'm sure it varies by course and/or school too...

Edit: And yes, he got credit for this...I can't remember if the grades were reported for GPA purposes though.
 
You can have the grade/transcript sent to your school, but your school has the option to accept it or not. Generally you should check with your school first before you waste time and money.

pre-calc is useless. don't fret, calc is like any other math you learn. you just have to spend time doing the problems yourself.
 
I managed to rack up 1.5 times the amount of credits required for graduation from high school... unless your friend is trying to graduate early, I don't know why it would matter if you have a measly credit or so.
 
Precalc/calc/statistics = you don't learn anything from the professors, you read the book and LEARN it through trial and error.
